Re: Die-cast 67-72

Here's some of my "other" interests;

The Black/red 4 wheeler, (Raptor), I customized to look like a drag quad. It started out just like the black and white one on the top shelf in the first pic.
My "sand paddle" tires leave a little to be desired, but it was the closest I could find. LOL

And the last one. (plastic like your's chuck! LOL)
This was my pride and joy about 25 years ago when I built it. It's lookin a little worse for wear these days... Hahaha
I cleaned it up as best as I dared. Figured it might fall apart if I got to vigorous with it.

Care to take a guess what this started life as? LOL

Lost the left front tire/wheel somewhere through the years....

I'll take a crack at it. Either a '78 Camaro and then you added a Monza body kit with some Dodge daytona parts and morph it into what you have here. Oh and some Pantera engine pieces.????

Re: Die-cast 67-72

Nice custom work.I see a late 70s Camaro hiding in there.

There`s no Suburban kit. But,there`s a phantom body made to use with the AMT longbed Chevy kit.

Here is an original 1967 CHEVY model kit that I got off ebay a few years back befor I started casting resin. This one was in bad shape as it was painted red with a brush. Some is still on the frame.

Last ones for tonight. (as I have to go an look for that darn forth door)

Here is the AMTs 67-72 model kit interior that I am working on. The bucket seats have been removed. Floor and back wall fixed. I will be making the mold for this as soon as I finish up the bench seat along with the bucket seats.

I am glad plastic is welcome here too!

Hey Ratpack….. that green wrecker looks sweet. Well, all of them look sweet actually!

I love that original ’67 kit you have. Those usually go for big bucks on fleebay. You do really nice work.

A few of mine that I build in the early 90's. Keep them stored in a glass cabnet...keeps them in pretty nice shape. The dust seems to ruin models over time.

Made this one to resemble my 68 GMC.

Re: Die-cast 67-72

They are the reissue fall guy trucks. Both have been converted to long beds. The tan one was built to look lik ean 86 K10 I use to own then lifted for no reason. The red one was built to look like my dad's 84 K10 with an 86 grill in it. I took about an hour changing the 83 GMC grill into an 86 Chevy grill.
Here are 2 shots of the tan truck 1 before the lift 1 after.

Here are the only shots I have of the red truck at the moment.

This one! That's what I want. Is that a kit? I'd just like to build a small version of my truck is what I'm after.

Is that longhorn a kit or a custom build?

Re: Die-cast 67-72

The 4x4 is very custom. I had to use parts from 4 different kits plus some scratch building to make it. The longhorn is also custom. Had to use 2 beds and 2 frames to lengthen it...

I kinda figured that! LOL
But there is a kit out there somewhere with a 72 body, correct? I can do the customizing to match my truck. Just need the body to start with.

Re: Die-cast 67-72

Yes,there`s plenty of`72 Fleetside kits. The latest is a "Rides" issue with bling bling wheels. It`s a perfect kit to bash. There`s another version with a blue/white 2-tone and a bit earlier version with a yellow/white truck on the box. These are all airly current and would be cheapest to buy.
I have yet to pick up one of those kits with a decent wrecker rig to build a 67-72 wrecker with. You guys built some just to make me envious. It worked,I`m green, gotta go get a kit now...

Re: Die-cast 67-72

CustomCamper,

Man, you have all kinds of cool stuff. Where did you find the 73-87 long bed beds? And Chevy grill? Resin? And those campers??? Are those custom made? I see you like the American SATCO Superswampers as well. Too bad they are not available anymore last I heard.

I see a couple M715’s and a blue GMC that look pretty cool too. I am not in to the Ford thing but the yellow roll back and the white Ferd look neat.

Nice work!

Re: Die-cast 67-72

The 73-up long beds were made from 2 83 GMC short beds and frames. The Chevy grill is a highly modified 83 GMC grill. The camper on the blue 69 long bed is scratch built. the camper on the orange cab is a reissue on a 1960 kit. The M715 and M725 are scratch built usiing Jeep Honcho kits. The roll back is scratch built from the cab back. The white F350 4x4 started as a F150 2wd...

Re: Die-cast 67-72

I just noticed all the ribbons on the wall behind the models CC!

I don't see any "3rd place" models in your collection. There must have been some stiff competition on those occassions!
All of 'em look like 1st place too me.

Good work on all.

Where's a good place to start lookin for a 72? There's no hobby shops close to me that I know of. Would chain stores carry 'em if I get lucky? Online maybe?

Re: Die-cast 67-72

CustomCamper,

You did an outstanding job stretching the short beds on those. You are much more talented modeler than I am!

454 72 4x4,

The last AMT 1972 C10 model I saw was at Hobby Lobby. Models are getting harder and harder to come by in retail stores as it is unfortunately becoming a dying hobby.

Good news though….you can get one at the link below. Kind of pricey at $22.90 a piece though. This vendor is a good guy and has a safe secure website to order from. I ordered a case of 1972 Blazers and a case of Fall Guy repops from him a while back. 3 models come in a case.

Look halfway down the page and you will see the 1972 Chevy Fleetside

Thanks. There is alot of 3rd place actually. The blue's are 1st's, the red's are 2nd's and the white and yellow's are 3rd's. I've been building for most of my life, so you tend to pick up a few tricks ofer the years... LOL

Sweet! Thanks DL!
At least I know I can get one when I get ready, (providing I don't wait to long...LOL)

I noticed awhile back at Wal-Mart they don't even carry to old "orange tube" Testors glue anymore. I was lookin ecause I glued my powerwindow switches in my 93 together with it a couple years ago and I needed to redo one of them. Luckily I found a tube I had stashed away.
That "non toxic" glue was crap IIRC. What do you guys use?

I've been using Model Masters, it comes in a black triangular container...

The 69s can be found on ebay for around $100 It was only made in that year so very few around. I make resin copies of the 69 chevy grill along with the 70 chevy grill in 1/25 scale.
