Picked up my CL $50 hood from the bead blaster and got it in primer for a block sand to find any areas that need work.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Drove to the vet. Drove to the grocery store. One grocery worker took a pic.
He asked if he could. Nice.

Went to another store (the first one didn't have what the boss wanted, I guess).
Had a nice conversation with a guy from France who was going to visit Yosemite.
HE asked if he could take a pic !!!!!

His friend came out of the store. He asked me something my basic (and poor)
French would not "compute". I finally figured out that he was asking if *I* had
them put the year of the truck on the plate.

I said, "yes" and, "Bon Voyage". Then HE asked if he could take a pic.

Three pics in one trip. That was nice.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

I worked on assembling my short block. Despite a few frustrations, I was happy that I could begin..

The machine shop screwed up, though.. They zero decked my block which is not what I asked for and they will get that ear full on Monday.

To - day's plan is to use the borrowed cherry picker and get my new 292 up on the engine stand so I can return the borrowed picker , his tranny blew up so he needs it back to yank his driveline .

I can't seem to get my son or brother to help out so it'll be interesting as I have a broken back and neck but I imagine it'll go fine , I'll just work slowly and *very* carefully .

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Today's installations:

New oil pump and pickup
New 5-quart oil pan using a one-piece seal
New Summit ProStreet 8" harmonic balancer (PITA!)
My refurbished/painted crank pulleys
New fuel pump and pushrod

Cleaned up my tools, put them away and bagged the engine while I wait on my new head gaskets from Jegs. Now, it's 5 o'clock somewhere!

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

I bought a HF Powder Coat system a few weeks back. I have been playing with it for a few days now and this is what I'm getting. I wish I snapped a picture of the A-Arm before I blasted them. Although these are 2 different arms, the effect is the same.

Before

Pictures aren't the best...

Is it the best system around, Absolutely not, Is it worth the money, and fun? HECK YEA!

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

today I cussed at my truck for the better part of 3 hrs. Apparently no nut that I own will fit the wiper motor mount for the transmission arms. apparently Jesus himself crafted this specially sized nut out of gold and other mythological things because ive been to the hardware store four times and no luck.. If anyone knew the correct size and or specs that would be great!
