Re: photo story of custom gas filler.....

Hey John,

Would a copper 90 degree elbow help avoid cutting for clearance since it makes a tighter turn?

Great work BTW! Its no wonder why you won TOTY!!!

Thanks All, it is very cool to see the other trucks that have done this. I like seeing the variations!!

copywritten, the cap itself does not have a dome shape. The housing does, but I cut it down from a round housing to square (which removed most of the doming) and then used the inner edge of hole as the top edge to match up with the bed and filled around it with welds.

As for using a copper fitting, if the ID of it is correct, it may work, just keep in mind the sharper the elbow, the more risk of slow filling..

I was just thinking the same thing.

VERY cool upgrade, I must say.

Re: photo story of custom gas filler.....

very nice! I'm looking for a flush mount to install into my fender. I'm looking at keeping it even with my marker light and evenly placed between the light and the wheel well.

But I'm stealing your idea with notching out the crossmember on the bed :P

Re: photo story of custom gas filler.....

John, how did you weld the carbon steel bedside to the stainless filler? I am looking at something similar with the middle stake pocket.

Thanks!
