Re: Its the shortbed's turn "Project Junkyard Resurrection"
I got my drivers side fender out of my parts stash and cleaned it up.No rust.Thats suprising, only a few dents in the fender cup to fix.I just shot some flat black on it and its drying now.

Re: Its the shortbed's turn "Project Junkyard Resurrection"
Looking good dustin. Do you have a tractor supply company near by? That is where I get my bolts at, grades 2, 5 and 8. Better prices than most hardware and home centers. They charge by weight instead of piece. And as for your dent you might want to take it to some one that has a stud gun. Pulls those big blind dents out quicly and with no holes. You may just want to buy you one. I think they start out at 200 bucks for one. As for lights go get you some of those free standing hologen lights. That will give you some light.

Re: Its the shortbed's turn "Project Junkyard Resurrection"
Ok,here is pics of the fender I painted and the door I painted.I still need to paint on the top of the door where its white after I get that paint off.In a few months this flat black will be replaced with a blue color of some sort.Notice the dents in the lower section of the door I need to adress.Cant beat rust free though so I am fixing it.

Re: Its the shortbed's turn "Project Junkyard Resurrection"
Well,I just cut a floor out of a pickup cab to use on the A/C cab since it was a low hump and I need a high hump floor.I really could have just cut a hole in the floor but there was other areas I needed to adress in the floor so most of the floor came out.Now I need to get the floor welded in the other cab.

Re: Its the shortbed's turn "Project Junkyard Resurrection"
Tomorrow dont expect any work done because I will be gone..But I am getting the transfer case and tranny tomorrow. If I do any work it will be patching a hole in the core support someone put in it to allow wire to be ran for a snowplow. With the help of a donor core support I should be able to pull it off and you wont be able to tell the holes were there.Stay tuned, this could get interesting!

Re: Its the shortbed's turn "Project Junkyard Resurrection"
Gees no-wonder you post count is so high - up to the minute updates
Progress looks good...that leak isn't anything major everytime I pull a motor my floor ends up looking like that (anitfreeze is not my friend - no matter where I put the bucket the antifreeze decides to run down the radiator suppor or chassis somewhere and "spread out" dripping from everything under the truck ) Question for you. I know that you said the front wheels on this thing are off a '79 4x4. What size are they??? 15"x7" or 15"x6" or 15"x6.5" Anyway to tell?? oh and could you get a picture of the shifter rails on that T.Case - does it have the little welded thing on the end of one of the rails like in my post in the 4x4 section?? They said that it was stock - I want to see someone elses thanks, Andy

Re: Its the shortbed's turn "Project Junkyard Resurrection"
Thanks. On the T.Case Shifter rails - the part that I circled in Yellow on your picture - that is welded onto the actual shifter rail right???
anyway as far as the wheels and tires go. I decided to take a ride with my buddy to the junk yard today as he had to pick up a car. when I walked in the front gate guess what was sitting right in front of me???? a '81-'87 1/2 Chevy!!!!!!! with the original stock style 15" It even had all the original Hub caps on it!!! I ask the guy if he wants to sell them. "sure, $20 sound fair? " - went down and took them off (even got all the lug nuts, and 12 of them were NEW). They are 15"x6" Wide with 235/75R15 tires - tires are junk anyway. The trim rings that were on my truck fit on the stock styled rims as well. I'll sandblast them and paint them - undecided on the white or the "gunmetal grey" they chevy used on some wheels. I put one w/trim ring and the hub cab on the truck just to see how it would look, I like it a lot better than the 31x10.50R15's Ballon Tires. I know most guys are the opposite and want the big tires etc etc. I just didn't like those ugly gold rims and the tires don't really do it for me. Stock profiled 4x4's look good if you ask me

Re: Its the shortbed's turn "Project Junkyard Resurrection"
Well, the front lift is done.Might start tearing the back apart to put on the rear tonight.Still need to install shocks though.Didnt have my new bolts to mount springs to the frame so I put in the old ones temporarily till I get the new ones which I should get this week.
