Thanks for the compliments! I'm ready to order wheels/tires right now but can't find what I need or want or both lol. Not exactly sure how to get the right wheel/tire combo to fill up the wheel well.

i was wondering if you thought about boxing your frame where you put the c-notch in? might be a good idea if you plan to take it to the track to minimize frame twist and flex. just a thought.
That bolt in c-notch actually sucked up the metal frame pretty damn tight after using an impact to tighten it all up. Probably gave it more strength. Those c-notch kits are made from heavy duty thick metal. Thicker than the frame thickness for sure. But yea later on in life when I tear it down to rebuild it again I will box in the whole frame and have it powder coated.

Re: My 84 C/10 Progress Thread

OK finally got an exhaust put on yesterday. 2.5" pipe, 2.5" 2-chamber Flowmaster mufflers, cut-outs (dumps) and the tailpipes come down and 45'ed before the axle tube. So much more quiet now. Now... I need wheels/tires, I need to lower the front 4" (2" spindles & 2" coils?), front shocks, get rear fender tubs made, spray-in liner the inside of the bed, wire up all my AutoMeter gauges and mount the cluster bezel, install sport mirrors, new windshield and an inspection sticker. That should put me back on the road.

Here's a video. And yes I know it's running really rich. The carb needs to be jetted down and tuned.

Re: My 84 C/10 Progress Thread

I'm having some oil leaking issues that I can't seem to fix. I must have a turbo charged oil pump because I'm getting lots of oil pressure up top in the valve covers. It first started with just oil vapors/smoke coming out of the breathers on the valve covers so I put in new rubber grommets with new breathers and I would get so much oil squirting up there that it would leak out of the side of the breather or trickle down the side of the valve cover from the grommets. I then changed over to a breather on the pass. side and pcv valve on the driver's side with a hose going up to the air filter. That cured the visual smoke but I'm still getting so much oil vapor that it's sucking it up all the way up to the air filter and accumulating. Even my oil cap gathers oil on top of the lid from it not making a good seal I guess. It makes a HUGE mess of oil everywhere if I go floor it and wind it up. Oil spatters all over the carb and valve covers, etc. I just can't pinpoint where it all is coming from. One time it even blew my oil dipstick out of the dipstick tube after flooring it one time. But still, why am I getting so much oil pressure up there that it's making everything leak? I even notice oil dripping off the starter underneath and making a little puddle of oil on the ground. I made sure it's not overfilled with oil. I show right in the middle of the "add a qt. line" and full mark on the dip stick on a cold motor. I have a 7 qt. Moroso oil pan with windage tray and baffle. I don't know if that makes a difference.

iI HAD HAD BIG BLOCK YHAT DONE THE SAMS THING(BLOWING THE DIP STICK OUT)THE MOTOR WAS NEW.BUT THE GUY THAT BUILT IT PUT THE RINGS IN IT.I DISCOVERED THE PROBLEM WHEN I TORE THE MOTOR DOWN.IT WAS A 396 BORED 90 OVER,ITHAD RINGS IN IT FOR 30 OVER 402 AND IT NEEDED 60 OVER 402.THAT'S WHAT THE PISTON HAD STAMPED ON IT.YOU WILL HAVE GOOD OIL PRESSURE,JUST A LOT OF CRANK CASE PRESSURE WITH THE WRONG RINGS.30 THOUSANTS IS A LOT WHENDEALING WITH RINGS.MIGHT BE SOMETHING TO LOOK AT.

Unfortunately that's one thing I don't know about the motor is what rings and exactly what pistons I have which in turn gives me no idea on what compression it is. All I know is it has forged 5.7 rods and forged flat top pistons. Not sure if it's bored any.

Definitely excessive blow-by. Do you have a PCV system in place?

I sure the hell hope not. The motor only has a hand full of miles on a fresh rebuild.

What all could cause this excesssive blow-by and positive crank case pressure? I do have a mr. gasket pcv style breather cover with a hose going up to the air filter. Like I said, it sucks up so much vapor I have a small amount of oil building up even on the inside of the air filter lid. Someone said I should be running baffled valve covers to keep the oil splash down.

You should run a compression and leak down check.

Re: My 84 C/10 Progress Thread

Good lord if I have to tear this motor down f it I'm putting 9:1 pistons in there and going F/I.

I really hope a leak down and compression test comes out good though or else I'm gonna go stupid with it and "blow" more money. Get it?

Re: My 84 C/10 Progress Thread

Finally got the carburetor issue solved with the QuickFuel 750. Slapped it on, took the front jets out of the Holley and put'em in the Q/F, adjusted the linkage, 1 1/2 turns from base on the 4-corner idle... cranked right up ran great. I'm still gonna put a light on it to make sure the timing is right but I think it runs way better than it did and starts up easier.

Something stupid. It's not lowered in the front yet and the truck is leaning backwards. Oil was settling toward the back of the valve cover on the pass side. Old worn out gasket... you get the idea. I changed out the gaskets and put new valve covers on it. Done.

I'm about 95% done with the interior now. Just need to wire up the guages (the cluster is just sitting in there in the pic), install the stereo and tint the windows.

After

Before

I ordered these in 15x7 and 15x12 with M/T drag radials. This truck will not see city streets much at all. It has a 3-speed, 4.11 gear and a Strange spool. When I turn a corner I get rear tire chirp
