Re: OG 66 C-10 Custom
So how much clearance do you have between the firewall and headers? It sounds like you are happy with the quality of the headers? Is your motor in the rear or forward bolt hole position? Oh wait, you have a dropmember right? Does that have forward and rear engine mounting options?

Hope he is still OK.

Re: OG 66 C-10 Custom
I go by and visit Matt periodically, just to check progress. This is a really nice truck. Last time I was in, several months ago, shop projects (paying customers) were keeping him busy.

Re: OG 66 C-10 Custom
OK.... well I have been very busy and am in the home stretch on the truck. I have to keep the doors open with clients work but have had a little time to wrap up the truck. I have included some pics of all of the custom mounts I made for the compressor, the silenoids and the Optima yellow top. I also included a couple of pics of the truck. I just finished the TIG welded custom exhaust, 2.5" with 2 chamber mufflers, and broke in the motor a couple of weeks ago. I got a driveshaft made and put in a 3/4 ton floor to clear the trans so it is almost ready. I need to replace the bad alternator and top off the fluids and it is a go. Hope you guys enjoy the pics.
P.S. I included a few of the custom aluminum fan shroud I made for the electric fan and I got some 1966 NOS Texas Farm Truck plates too. |

Re: OG 66 C-10 Custom
I got a 66 that has been stagnet for about 6 mths. I just picked up a 68 suburban in awesome shape. I was actually thinking of selling the 66 to bag and rim up the burb... till now. Thanks for the inspiration... this truck is sick!!!!

The truck looks good. Last time you posted anything it was in your garage...
Would like to see more pics on the finished rear set up.

Re: OG 66 C-10 Custom
I was planning on having it at Goodguys this year but I had way too much client work. I will have it at the heatwave this next year and at Goodguys but will drive the wheels off of it for a while too. I bet if I took it into the Roundup I would get some stink eye's for the big rollers but so what, I build hotrods too.

Re: OG 66 C-10 Custom
I'm diggin the shroud & the knobs for the air control. Stock V8 radiator? I was trying to have mine put together for the 2010 RoundUp. Maybe I'll see yours there (you could pop some steelies on it to keep the frenzy @ a minimum ).

Re: OG 66 C-10 Custom
Thanks.... I wanted the controls to look almost like the factory placed them there so I got some extra control knobs from a donor C10 and had a bezel made. The radiator is a recored stock radiator, 4 core, and I think that it will be ok.... we will see. As for putting steelies on the C10 I don't think that it can happen as I have 89 Corvette suspension and brakes. I think that this means I have to have a 17" or bigger wheel to clear the vette brakes. Someone correct me on this if I am wrong.
