Re: My first old truck
Been a long day. Finally got the passenger side fender, hood hinges and hood on. That's when I realized that I had a Chevy fender on one side and a GMC on the other. I went to the barn pulled out another GMC fender, got it worked and painted tonight. Back on track tomorrow.

Re: My first old truck
Now that I have the fender issue straightened out something else is off. My hood is waaaayyyy off. At the back right side it is rubbing and at the front left it is rubbing. When I loosened the bolts and turned it to where it would close the hood is so twisted it nearly hits the cowl and the hood latch is not close. Any ideas???

Re: My first old truck
Not sure with yours, but my hood (if I remember correct), bolted up to the hinges furthest it would go towards the front, then we adjusted the lower bolts on the hinges to fine tune.

Re: My first old truck
Got some stuff done this weekend. Gauges are in, new shift linkage is in and got the roll pan on. Getting ready to put the bed on a trailer and take it to the body shop. I think i will have it ready to go tomorrow or tuesday.
It was my hinges, they were fine when they were open or closed. When they would start to collapse they would separate in the middle. I ordered new hinges and it shuts perfectly now. |

Re: My first old truck
I am hooking up the wiring harness and tidying everything up one last time. I have a painless harness and am trying to hook up my factory tach. I (think) that wire #923 goes to the coil side of the tach. Where does the 12v power come from?

Re: My first old truck
I have picked out my wheels. I was wondering about tires and backspacing. I am planning on running 20x8.5 all the way around with 255/55/20 tires. How will that look?
