Re: 67cheby DM 3.2 install, W/PB 4link, PB hood hinges
I don't know how much you are planning on driving the truck but you may reconsider the air-zeniths. I know ALOT of people have had serious issues with complete failure within 6 months of use, even the redesigned compressors have still had issues. Viairs are not as attractive as the air-zeniths but have a much more reliable track record, also consider engine driven compressor setups, when maintained properly they are nearly bulletproof as well.
On another note the tie-rod notches look stellar and that crossmember looks amazing installed. great job so far, can't wait to see how it progresses! |

Old Air Zeniths were prown to problems. The newest ones that came out are running smoothly without any hickups so far from what I have heard.

Re: 67cheby DM 3.2 install, W/PB 4link, PB hood hinges
i have an air zenith but switched back to viair.. i love my dual viair setup.. my air zenith went out in a few months after i got it and when i got it back it was slower than before.. new ones are supposed to be badass but people will always have something bad to say about either

Re: 67cheby DM 3.2 install, W/PB 4link, PB hood hinges
a little progress last night , made some templates for the firewall, bolted the front sheet metal back on to see how much fender to cut out and to get ready for my hood hinges my hinges and 4link should be here on friday thanks PORTERBUILT. here are pics of my inner fenders with my idea basically stick them up through the hole and weld them in ...it sounds pretty simple i hope it turns out that way!!

Re: Raising the bed floor 67cheby
thats going to look nice , most of the people running lowered duallies running trailerfenders as inside fenders crafted o the part that atach to the outsidefender and the frame .
when my plans ever become real i might need those type of fenders too .

Re: 67cheby DM 3.2 install, W/PB 4link, PB hood hinges
front tires are 255-45-20, i think today we are going to cut out the fender metal and set the front end down .. i think i am going to have to switch to a 255-40-20 it is one inch shorter the height is 28.1 on the 255-40. the wheel are as close as i can figure 20x9 with 6.5 back space . i am trying to measure them with the tire on.

Re: Raising the bed floor 67cheby
like i said you could craft it into the existing sheetmetal of the innerfender...... to make it look pretty you might even want to clad the rest with some shiny sheemetal to hide tha factory stuff the bolts and some of the wiring using those quarter turn screw thingies they use on racecars

Re: 67cheby DM 3.2 install, W/PB 4link, PB hood hinges
Mines at Nates shop so the pics are in his hands. He post them up as he makes progress.
We have been waiting for backorder parts for about a month from Wilwood and CPP The brakes are at Nates shop as of this week and we are waiting for CPP to send the spindles. With the Wilwood brake kit I purchased you have to run the CPP modulat spindle with brings the front track in about an inch a side. So Nate will have to fab some custom "Long travel Control arms" to compensate for the lost track width. And he can't do it with out the spindles, so the AUX has been on the back burner for a bit. Which is working out well for him so he can fill his Christmas orders. Look for more progresson here and the www.porterbuiltstreetrods.com website after the first of the year. For now I am living through your progress pics so please keep them coming. |
