Re: 1971 GMC lwb to 1968 chev swb project
I haven't did much lately but I got new seat cover installed, and will try to get seat installed tommorrow and dash pad. The cover is from Lmc trucks and it seems to fit really well.

Re: 1971 GMC lwb to 1968 chev swb project
Thanks, I'd like to see some pictures of your ride also. I still need to cut out rust on doors/rocker panels and put in new cab corners next. I just need to cut it all open and get at it. I am leary of tackling it but it can't be any harder than cutting my box all up, I think I worry too much LOL, instead of just getting off my arse and tackling it. Also I know everyone likes to look at pictures but comments sure go a long way to keep us all motivated. If it wasn't for this site I'm sure all these projects would all collect alot more dust.

Re: 1971 GMC lwb to 1968 chev swb project
Passenger door rust removal. Date is suppose to be Jan 18/11, I always forget to reset date on camera.
Welded up cracks by door hinge. Pretty rough spot welding, I need a real mig welder, flux core works but not as good as gas. Oh well more money for my truck.

Re: 1971 GMC lwb to 1968 chev swb project
Looks great, keep up the work.
I was thinking of switching mine from a LWB to a SWB, but am just enjoying driving it for now. Surprising how much a $650 initial investment can bring a smile to your face.

Re: 1971 GMC lwb to 1968 chev swb project
Here are some of the rust issues I am dealing with.
Cut out of rust Repair started Cab corner and support to deal with also You can see now why I didn't want to tackle all this, but all the weld in parts are here and should be done hopefully in a couple of weeks.

Re: 1971 GMC lwb to 1968 chev swb project
Just go slow and believe it or not, cutting out a $30 rocker will make the floor/support/cab corner easier to repair in the long run. What ever you do just make sure to hang the door before final fit of the new bits

Re: 1971 GMC lwb to 1968 chev swb project
Thanks for the advice Tony, the passenger side rocker is good, but the driver side rocker will be coming out for sure.
