Re: dodge steelies

scotts hotrods made my front rotors.

in the rear I have a 12 bolt, moser axles set to 5.5, and late model ram disk and calipers. I just re-flanged the tube to hold the dodge backing plates.

why use dodge brakes?

because I wanted disk in the rear and the 5.5 axle flange will not fit in the hat of a 5 on 5 rotor.

If you want to run drum its a fairly easy swap.

Re: dodge steelies

I have a set of these wheels that I am looking to put on my 74 GMC project and according to my measurements, the backspacing is 5 3/8".

CHIZZLER, your truck looks good with the 20s.

cajundragger, I followed your build on gmfullsize for a while and it's a real nice truck.

Re: dodge steelies

for those of you who havent seen, I did some changes on mine.

Went from a 8" to 10" rear wheel so went from 255/35/20 to 295/35/20.

the rears are widened to 10's now and back spaced to give me a decent lip. The fronts are stock +1" more backspace.

Re: dodge steelies

stockton wheel did them.

great work, ****ty customer service though. Took 16 weeks for them to get them done instead of the 6 they orignally quoted. and basically acted shady the whole transaction.

Re: dodge steelies

Put 2 on using just the adapters to see what they would look like on a square body, the rear...........

The front...........

Whole truck............

Not to bad, I don't think.

Re: dodge steelies

The center cap is attached using the original hardware, although the lug holes took a little modification. It's the only cap I have modified so far, it was in rough shape so I didn't mind grinding on it a bit.

Depends on the amount drop you have, stock to a 2/4 drop you could these wheels with adapters all the way around and they'll sit about where the stock ones do. More drop or bagged and you'll need some redrilled rotors in the front to pull them in. I am currently running 2.5" spindles, stock coils with one coil cut, 1.5" sectioned crossmember and a 2" Z, if my math is correct that's 8" in the front. With the redrilled rotors the fenders have clearance but the inner fenders will have to come out. I'll try and get a couple pics up later today.

Re: dodge steelies

This one is with the adapters, 1-1/4" thick....

And this one is with the redrilled rotors....

I know that they are at different angles but you can kinda see the difference in the amount of space there is. I haven't gotten the front sheet metal all reinstalled yet, I will need to mod my fenders and inners when I do.

On the rear one could drill the axle flanges to get the proper bolt pattern but you will probable need wheel adaptors for the spacing of the rear end.

I got a set of stock hubs for the front of my 66 gmc and had them drilled to the correct 5 lug pattern for 100.00, you will probably not need spacers on the front if you use a later model crossmember, and drop spindles, they space you out 3/4" plus 1/2" per side so you may not want the adapters on the front so it will be easier to slam the truck. Re: dodge steelies

I have been calling around and the least expensive I could purchase these wheels for is $125.00 each used at a salvage, guess we are going to go to the dodge truck dealer and steal spares some evening to hold the cost down.....ha ha...

Re: dodge steelies

Ha guys. I was on ebay looking for dodge rims and ran in to so toyota tundra rims that look just about the same ..... 18x5 and a 5x5 bolt pattern what is the odds os that... I guess ill have to rock the 18s so I don't have to use my spacers........ I may put the 20 in back. Just to push the rims out ...

Re: dodge steelies

To each his own, I guess. I love how the steelies look on every one of these trucks....just not the square body 73-87. To me, the square body needs something beefier filling those wheel wells. Maybe with a drop....but still. I'm not seeing it work....and this is what I do for a living.

Not with out modification or adapters, If your truck is a 6 lug the bolt pattern is 6x6.5 and the dodge wheels are 5X5.5
