Who narrowed your 12 bolt??? You think its going to hold up and not blow apart??

Thanks for the info on the tires, when I looked at them at Mopac it just seemed a little thin in side wall,

chapster,

I love the name of your build thread! Your frame looks great. I like your tube reinforcement tided to your cross member. What are you planning to do about your exhaust?

Thanks Dougminton

I have a polished Stainless Steel builders kit from Pypes and I will be running X pipe and Borla mufflers. It is going to be tight but well worth it in the end.

My next big decision is custom or slightly modified stock dash. This will allow me to determine gauges. If I don't purchase something for my build on a regular basis I go through withdrawal....lol

Hey Darren,

I had a local company that alot of the drag guy's around here use do the rear end. They told me it was good for 500 hp at the wheel. (I hope so)

If I blow it up I will order a complete unit from moser.

Wow

For what I paid I could have went with Dutchmanaxles Polished housing/axle kit. I think my Moser axles alone were $450.00

Re: Project "Never Again" will I rebuild a perfectly good truck

That polished one is cool, but the Fab9 with a back brace would be healthy looking. I think Im going to do the polished one though, just one more cool thing to look at underneath.

Like I said, I have been searching for a long time, debating what to do, I bought a 9" diff, but when you add it all up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Definetly going with the Dutchman setup, the nice thing about it comes assembled..

Yes I love buying parts too, good thing I sell a lot of my high $$$$ and dusty stuff to at least pay for a good portion of the new one, at least the wife stays happy..

Re: Project "Never Again" will I rebuild a perfectly good truck

Well I think I landed a 58 chevy fleet for the next project. I sure I wont get to for a couple of decades when I finish this one....lol

If it goes through I will use the newer box on it since the fleet is shot and they both have the square wheel wells.

Now all I have to do is decide which box to go with on this project, Fleet of Step.......hmmmm

Re: Project "Never Again" will I rebuild a perfectly good truck

Wow awesome looking build, those wheels and brakes are crazy looking. I too have started my porterbuilt addiction. So far I only have the control arms but am thinking about some more parts. I'm subscribed to see how this one turns out.

Re: Project "Never Again" will I rebuild a perfectly good truck

I have been really busy the last 6 months but thought I would bring it closer up to date. I have spent way to much on hard lines but sure is worth it in the end.

Let me know what you guy's think.....

Re: Project "Never Again" will I rebuild a perfectly good truck

Thanks guy's,

I hope to get more focussed on the project again coming up. last year was crazy....Was laid up for alot of it due to health issues. Then I got a hair brain idea to go back to school during the nights. I swore after my Mech. Engineering schooling (many years ago) that i would never go back.......lol

Will be finishing the current night course in april. Can't wait to have more time for the truck.

Nice routing of lines, and great work! What did you decide on your dash? I just called Justdashes and their 3 pod dash pad would be $450 shipped to my door. So I have to decide if that's really worth it.

I have not completely decided on the dash but I am leaning towards keeping stock configuration now that the New carbon fibre Dakota Digital gauges are out.

Above is also the install of the cam, springs and seal pics.

Also picked up a original owner parts truck that has some goodies with it. The stepside fenders were removed at 10000 km's and hung in a barn.
