I'll sleep.
My patience comes with Life Experience.
I mean, they told me it was gonna be 2 weeks, and it turned in to 7.

When I had the Body Work done (at another shop), they told me 4 weeks and it ended up being 10.
Knowing me, I'll drive it STRAIGHT HOME.
Then I'll detail it, intall some exterior LED's and probably wont take it out till the weekend.
TRhat's just the way I roll.

Re: Finally!!!

It's happening dude...it's really happening! LoL. It looks like some guy who loved these trucks put a lot of time thinking on what would be a one of a kind, custom tribute to the true spirit of these trucks and made it happen. Props for a fine ride.
BTW...there will be small stuff that pops up on the shakedown cruise, minor imperfections will reveal themselves. Try not to sweat it, all that can be dealt with down the road. Just enjoy tweaking her to be the ride you always wanted. Ride on!

Re: Finally!!!

I called it.
My Truck wasnt ready today.
It was at the Upholstry Shop for 1/2 the day.
Still some odds & ends to finish upp.
Need to machine/grind some stuff.
So I'm thinking it's gonna be by Friday.
The Guys at the shop offered to drive it to my House when its done.
I thought that was pretty cool, because my Wife will be out of town for a week, and I'll have no Transpo......

Re: Finally!!!

wwotr,... Just curious what your total investment is in your truck?
(not an actual dollar amount, if you don't want to give up the info)

Example:
If a nice swb truck was for sale,... for $10k,... there are so many people that would say,... "No way that truck is worth that much!!!"

But in reality,... it takes a bunch of money to completely go thru these old trucks.
(especially if you do each step, like you have)

Would you say you have stayed on budget,... or have you spent more that you wanted?

Well I got the Truck in April 09.
Traded it STRAIGHT ACROSS for my 96 2 Door Tahoe.
So theres no "Initial Cost" up front.

For making it Street Worthy (Saftey Check, Brakes,Tune-Up ect),
was $800.00.
Then the Tires, Center Caps,Lowering Springs, Shocks was another $1K
Leather Seats were $1200.00
Complete Body Work was $4200.00
Interior Body Work, Paint, all new Interior (Besides Seats), $4K

So at this point theres approx $10K into it in less then 2 Years.

Havent even talked about Exterior Paint, New Engine yet.
(Probably another $9K).

I really didn't have a Budget in mind.
I just knew I couldn't afford to do EVERYTHING I wanted to, all at once.
So I've taken little "Bites", and that seems to work better for my situation.
I'd say that the $$ I've put out, was just about what I expected.
But there's MUCH MORE support down in So Cal (as compared to Nor Cal),
when it comes to Clubs, Shops, Car Shows, places to Paint your Vehicle.

Does that help you any?

Re: Finally!!!

I bought my truck for $6900, frame off restore with a rebuilt motor, the only things that need work are the tranny needs to be resealed and a new clutch. The guy did all the work himself, he teaches at college on body work and is able to bring his cars in and all he has to do is pay for supplys and all the labor is free but i can gurantee you he had over $6900 in that truck in just parts and supplys.

Those are "Aftermarket Gauges (Auto Meter Pro Comp).
They're the same size as the Stock Gauges.
The lighting was aftermarket also from a Company called:
Superbrightleds.com

The bulbs are #WLED-xHP5: Wedge Base Bulb Green and were $5.95 ea.

Just an update...
Got the Truck home last Thursday.
There were about 5 things I saw that needed to be Re-Done/Finished up ,
(to my Standards), so it went BACK into the Shop yesterday.
Don't wanna really take any "Finished" Pictures/Video until its right.
I'm just a perfectionist that way.
Sit tight. When its done, you'll probably tell me to shut-up, because I'm talking about it so much.

Re: Finally!!!

I hate that Roger. You'd think it would be finished to your satisfaction after 7 weeks in the shop. They had time to paint the whole truck.

Naw.
Its not all their fault. I didn't go over it with a "fine tooth comb", when I paid for it.
After being there EVERYDAY for 7 weeks, I thought it was a no brainer. One of the shop guys drove it home, because my Wife was out of town.
I had lunch and then came back and looked at it, and well....lets just leave it at that. They're making it right and that's all I care about.

OMG!!
April 9th is my Birthday!
What a great present (to myself). My Truck "may" be in the shop then, getting the exhaust put up into the Frame and some "Electric Cut-Outs" installed.
I'd still love to check it out (even if I dont have my Truck)!
Is there any Website or Links about it?
If not, please give me all the info you can.
It sounds like GREAT fun!
