Hi , I used a pair of electric fans, a 12" and a 16" together covered the whole rad. Works great. Here's part of the instructions that come with the kit with the water pump details.
Additional parts needed to complete the engine (not included in this kit):

Use driver side and passenger side aluminum drive brackets off of a 1990-1994 Chevy 350 V8 or 4.3L V6 truck, with casting numbers 10118701 (driver's side) and 10118751 (passenger side). These are the brackets shown below. Notice that the passenger side bracket does not have an arm for mounting an air pump. Also notice the zigzag pattern ribs at the top of the driver's side bracket under the alternator. These brackets were used for other years and models too. A salvage yard or GM dealer may be able to help find them. See pictures. The passenger side bracket should include the idler and tensioner.
Air conditioner compressor and pulley, alternator and pulley, and power steering pump and pulley off the donor engine. Note: A good reason to use 1994 truck parts is that the compressor will use R134a refrigerant
A water pump pulley off the donor engine. Do not use a pulley with a groove. The belt surface must be smooth. GM part number 10085760 is suitable.
A reverse rotation water pump off of a 1988-1999 454 engine. This is considered a “long” pump, and is 7 5/16” from block to pulley mounting surface.
A big-block crankshaft pulley, GM part number 10085753.
Gates belt number K060970 or equivalent 6-rib 97” belt. This assumes the use of the 1994 truck brackets listed above and the belt routed inside the idler as shown below. The idler pulley can be omitted if desired. If the idler is not used, a 96" belt should be used.
A new thermostat housing may be needed to allow the upper radiator hose to clear the alternator. The Chevelle shown below is using a swivel-neck housing. Upper radiator hose will probably need to change, but your vehicle's stock lower hose, may work

Yes thank u for the info... Im thinking about going this route with my 454...also on ur electric fans,did u buy a kit or purchased them seperate and adapted them to the rad??Any pics of that setup? Much appreciated thx

I just bought the fans seperate and then wired them to work together .I also bought a relay kit with a temp.sending/sensor unit. I bought it all from a ebay seller by the name of skip white performance.They were priced really well so I had my doubts but they have been on there for a while and have done great.

Top pic is of my '69 before I tore my truck apart. It's a '79 GMC 454 out of a 3/4 ton.

Bottom pic is my engine bay now, minus the bay

I also have a serp belt drive for it, but it's off an '89 454 TBI motor (from a dually). Also running Hedman Elites. Very nice headers, but I had the motor mocked up to check clearance on them and ended up having to dimple the #1tube (drivers side) to clear the motor mount frame bracket

Very nice Adam....So your Elites did not fit with 72 motor mounts?? I've heard that if you use F-body headers for Chevelle or Camaros...they have a better fit....does anyone know if this is true?? thanks

Hi , I used the 72 type big block mounts and my Elites went on with out touching any part of the frame however it was very tight on the pass. side and i was afraid after the motor ran a little the elites would end up touching the frame.So I ended up relieving the frame on the pass. side about 1/4 inch and then it was fine.

I circled below where I had to dimple the header. When I say dimple, I mean just a small bit with the round end of a ball peen hammer. It was the hump there on the motor mount plate that was hitting. They won't bolt up all the way until I did this. And yes, these are original '72 mm's, but obviously not original to my '69. Maybe that has something to do with it? I did have to whack it pretty good to persuade it, but that is a good thing because these headers are very heavy built and solid - no cheap, thin metal on these at all. All in all really no big deal, as pretty much every set of headers I've ever used needed something 'extra' to bolt on all the way.

There is just to much snow to shovel off and move Attached Images __________________ 1968 chevy c10 soon to have 454 and turbo 4006 1970 custom/20 4x4 454/sm465/np205 around 7 inches of lift with 36's. 1992 2wd sierra 5.7 with edelbrock intake, headers, and a Chip.
