My 67 lwb: Project Katy

thanks guys. i wanted a color that was different. wanted to stand out. made some progress on the new floor frame(no pics forgot the camera)-sorry. will have some tomorrow.

i did clean up the inside of the bed alittle. i removed the middle and front stake pockets.

its actually a coworkers family garage/shop. if you look in the back ground you will see the other build going on. 67 camaro. its ready for paint, but they want to build the motor and get it in first(454 fuel injected. to the left of my bed theres a 49 dodge panel(been sitting 20 years). in the second garage(drivers)they have a 37 ford sedan(untill last year it sat for 26 years), 36 ford coupe, 50 anglea, 65 chevy c10(ready for the road after 17 years), and a 78or9 malibu.

before cutting out wheel well



after. lots of clearance. this will also help get the dents out(room for a dolly).




i need to cut out the drivers side. then bodywork the sides. then i will weld the tubs in.

got some new parts in. new 79 camaro wheel(dyed black, need to install). new trim parts grille bowtie and letters(installed). new trim parts fender emblems(need to remove the inner fenders to get them on.




pic of my interior. i used a textured paint to match the gage cluster texture( did my door panels, glovebox door, radio delete, ash tray, and heater control panel). made the aluminium heater control panel at work. still need to wire up my vintage air heater/defroster unit.




lastly i welded up the 19 trim holes on my tailgate(gate was on a 69 bed). not using the trim here(mine would only have the top and didnt like that look). think i got carried away alittle when i was doing it

Looks good man. That color looked even better in person. Btw im the tard that bought your crossmember lol.

thanks! i figured it was you. i wish i didnt sell that now. i might end up triing to cut one up till i can afford the porterbuilt member.

new wheel pics. dont mind the wires, i have to hook up my vintage heater yet.





cut the area between the front and rear of the wheel tubs . did this now so its done when i bag it.

started to fill in the bottom of the wheel tubs. i made the braces under the long side so i can cut a tunnel for the axle(were you see the angled pieces).





and a pic of the other projects in the garage. the camaro is just about ready for paint(just need to finish assembling it. the plan is to get that ready and have my bed ready at the same time. hopefully within 2 weeks.

Haha yeah its me. Sounds like you got bit by the air ride bug, its a pretty contagious disease lol. I can't afford a porterbuilt either that's why im sectioning that one. Haven't gotten very far on it. I broke it down and marked it to cut 1.5" but that's as far as I good. I may replace the upper a arm mounts cause they don't so healthy but we'll see after I blast it.

long time since i last updated. work has got in the way of progress(not a bad thing i guess). havent had much time to work on it. but in the last 2 months we have got it almost ready for paint. we ended up spraying it in high build primer so we can put it away till spring. they need the garage for storage for the winter.

the want to is there, its the time that`s not. i have a huge list of stuff i need/want to order. hope to get the basics(air ride stuff and tubz/porterbuilt hinges) ordered by spring and run it. then as money allows i will get the other stuff i want(dropmembers front and rear and a arms).

just ordered a set of porterbuilt hood hinges from travis at pro performance.

i plan on doing my own setup for the rear. would love pb rear dropmember, but the $$ not there(and i want the notch in so i dont have to take the bed off again). i think i will go will my bags outside the frame and behind the axle. from what i am seeing this will give the best ride(correct)? no worries on the tire size, only run 8 in wide rims.

for the front i still want to go full porterbuilt dropmember and a arms setup. if the money is there i will get it this spring. if not i will atleast get the air setup and be on bags this year. then add the front later on.

also hoping i can sell/trade the rims and tires i have on here and get some rally`s for it with a shorter sidewall(70 series).

as far as body work goes, that will be starting back up in march i hope(no space in the garage right now to get it in to work on it). my goal is to have the bed painted and bagged by the syracuse king of trucks show(june 1/2 2013).

man 2 months and no updates. i`m suck a slacker. no progress yet, but i have been ordering parts. got my pb hood hinges in a few weeks ago. scored a set of new pb forward series a arms with pb stage 1 front kit(minus bags). got them in friday. these are awesome(like you didnt know already).

friday i ordered a kp bolt in notch and watts link from ca chassisworks. i wanted there watts link so to me it made sense to get there bolt in notch. would love to get the rear 6 link canti kit to go with it, but thats a long shot this year.

and tonight i ordered the next big item. give you a hint; pssssssssssssssssst




nah, cant leave you hanging. i ordered a ridetech e3 dual comp 5 gallon tank with the big red valve upgrade from jay at american pastimes. great guy to deal with.

next up is to get some bags. i plan on sectioning a crossmember this year then going drop member or scotts superslam next year. just wasnt in the funds this year with what i want to get done.

still missing a few key parts(bags and shocks). not to mention the weather isn`t helping me out. if it stays in the 50`s for a few days i can get it out and work on it. but seems like 1 decent day 3 bad. to much salt on the road yet. cant do anything i need to in my garage(truck barely fits in it).

whats everyone opinion on the tubzs. should i leave them gloss black(like my stock ones are) or body color? i`m leaning towards black to offset the green and not overpower you when you look under the hood.

plus i still need a new alt(100 or 140 amp) tranny crossmember and battery box. then get new tires(shorter) or if i can find some rally`s with lower tires.

got some work done saturday. got the bed into the garage(was stored outside under a tarp for the winter due to space). the outside held up great(had 2 coats of high build sprayed on it before we put it away. the inside you can see in the above posts had some surface rust in it from holding water in it(before i got it it had about 4 inches of water in it-drain holes were plugged with leaves). sanded from the new floor down and painted it with some leftover rustoleum black paint. hopefully we can knock out the last of the body work in the next few weeks. hope to lay the paint by the end of may.

got some more parts in this week. got 2 slam specialties ss7 and 2 firestone fst9000 bags from Travis at pro performance. should be getting some u joints and shaft for steering this week from him also. ordered a set of kyb shocks for the rear. getting real close to having everything i need to install the bags. have to order some metal to make rear bag mounts, and figure out what to do with my battery and air ride stuff.
