Here is my tow rig, although it didn't come from the factory this way it does have 3/4 and 1 ton running gear. Dana 44 front and 14 bolt GM Corp in back.

Evolution? Sure technology always improves, but, facial expressions never changes. Most modern vehicles are designed to express mean looking frown on the front end versus a rounded smiling happy front end design. Head light shapes are similar to eye brows. Maybe today styling is the mood of the country.
