Re: Guess I'll finally post - searching for CCSB!
Now that I think about it, there are no speakers...
I'm kinda guessing that this truck was ordered without a radio. Is there a VIN decoder or something I can look up the options it came with? |

Nevermind, found it -- I'll look up the RPO codes.

I'm an idiot.
Joe, guess what that silver box in the radio opening was? It doesn't work but at least it's there, which means the wiring is there somewhere! |

Re: Guess I'll finally post - searching for CCSB!
OK -- someone explain this to me like I'm a 5 year old.
If I buy a 4K diesel tach like from a C60 big truck or something, with the little built in fuel gauge as well -- what do I have to do for the tach to work with my 6.2? Do those tachs run off the alternator wire? |

Re: Guess I'll finally post - searching for CCSB!
sweet.
I may have found a perfect 1/2 ton short bed. Good suspension, good front clip, good dash pad, no dents in the bed or anything... Just need to find a spot to put another truck  |

Re: Guess I'll finally post - searching for CCSB!
Can't find any radio wiring. This is really confusing.
There are also no speakers in the doors or anything. WTF. |

Any speakers in the dash?
Maybe one in the center? Did you figure out what that silver box is? Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Guess I'll finally post - searching for CCSB!
The silver box was the radio. It was turned around and shoved into the dash area.

Nice score on your truck! That truck is really clean! I know where there are some DRW fenders too.

Re: Guess I'll finally post - searching for CCSB!
Thanks
I'm actually going the opposite direction with it though. It will be a CCSB and I'm converting it from dually to SRW. Already found the perfect 1/2 ton donor truck, I just need to find enough space to put both of them and start swapping. Any recommendations for overdrive? I'd like to be able to cruise at 75 on the freeway, people in CA are crazy |

NV4500 for manual trans, on a GM auto I'd have to say a 4L80E with a controller.

Re: Guess I'll finally post - searching for CCSB!
huh. May have to wait on that one then and be happy cruising at 65.
As far as the radio -- I found This link that gives the color codes for the wiring. Can anybody tell me whether or not it was an actual harness that was all together or if it was a couple sets of individual wires? I'm not 100% sure what I'm trying to find behind the dash. |

Re: Guess I'll finally post - searching for CCSB!
Little by little, I'm going to get this radio situation figured out
Dug around behind the dash some more today. Found a couple stray wires that were taped together. Black, yellow, and grey. If I go by that wiring diagram from the12volt.com that means I've found switched 12v, a ground, and an illumination wire? anybody? |

Re: Guess I'll finally post - searching for CCSB!
wait wait wait... more internets to the rescue!
I found a wiring diagram here Up by "radio" there are 3 wires.. Grey, Yellow, and Black! So if I'm reading this right, the black should be the ground and the yellow and grey are constant and switched? |

Re: Guess I'll finally post - searching for CCSB!
Yellow is switched. It didn't come on until I turned the key -- thanks multimeter.
I need to strip away some of the wire on the black and the gray to see what they are, can't get a connection with either of them. |

Re: Guess I'll finally post - searching for CCSB!
You can tap into the cigarrette lighter, it's always hot and already fused...

Re: Guess I'll finally post - searching for CCSB!
SCORE!
Was playing around on craigslist last night and found a full set of suburban power window/lock doors about an hour away from me. They're in reasonable shape, and I got all the wiring and hinges, etc. 100 bucks! WOO! |
