Update of what I have been working on. I got a pair of seats from a Cobalt SS. Black and Red with the SS logo. I have to get a picture of them to post. I have them mounted. Next I started building the center consol. The main body of the console will be the enclosure for my 15 inch JL sub, which requires 2 1/4 cubic feet of volume. What I am working on now is the piece that goes between the seats, know on corvettes as a waterfall. I started with a 3/4 inch plywood form. I then used 2 inch thick foam insulation pieces glued together to create the shape I wanted. I then laid fiberglass over that. I am putting the body filler on it right now. This piece will be pained body color when it is done.

Just got my cup holder from Amazon.com Thanks to Neverenuffbass for the tip as I never would have thought to look on Amazon for these. Finding the right materails can be the biggest challenge of the project sometimes.

What's the story on the missing sections of both front fenders?

The guy who owned the truck before me, used it for a farm truck. He got to the point where his health was such that he couldn't get around very well. So in order to get access to change the plugs easier, he decided that it only made sense to take the sawzall to the fenders. I will have to say, it makes leaning over to reach the plugs a lot easier. I can't make this stuff up.

Picking up a pair of repro fenders is at the top of my list for Spring Carlisle next month. I can't wait to see what a difference it makes with new fenders on.

So today I got a chance to glue up the piece of wood for the console where the shifter and two cup holders will go. Continuing with the theme of using what I have laying around, I am using some left over wood from the hardwood floor in my dinning room. This is Peruvian tigerwood. I used a belt sander to take the clear finish off, and removed the tongue and grove with a jointer.

Progress pics. Waterfall is in primer and I am now block sanding it. I also started to build a speaker pod for the doors. I started off with MDF. These will be fiberglass like I did on the waterfall.

Made some more progress last night. I have never made something like this before, so I am learning as I go. Anyone with more experience, please chime in. I am more interested in learning the process, than the finished product. I figured using the boring head on my bridgeport was the best way to create the pocket for the mid-range speaker. Note: I don't have grill covers for these yet, so I may have to make some small adjustments after I get the grill covers in my hands.

How thick is that mdf? Are you going to use those as a mold and pop them out afterwards? Its looking good!

It is 3/4 inch think MDF. I am not planning on making a mold as of right now. I thought about it. Right now I am planning on leaving the MDF as part of the structure with the fiberglass on top. I am going to cut most of the MDF away before I start to put the fiberglass on. I will be working on it more this week and post more pics.

First mock up of the waterfall in place......I came up with some new ideas for details on the console, so stay tuned. And the details on the console will match the custom grill covers for the speakers on the doors if I can build what I have in mind. We will see....This interior stuff is fun.

Ok, went to the spring Carlilse show on Friday. Here is what I came back with. A pair of '79 fenders for $80, a '73-'74 grill for $30, and a pair of tailights for $5.

I got the drives side fender on last night. Man, they put a lot of bolts on these fenders. I have to get a 90 degree head air ratchet to reach those bolts. What do other people use to get those hard to reach bolts out??

I started working on the console again. I bought a sheet of MDF (3/4 x 4' x'8'). I cut out the sides. I also got my new fenders on, and the old front bumper off.

Went to the Mopar show at Carlisle this month. Bought a pair of tires 245-40-17's and a 16 gallon fuel cell for the truck. Came across this '47 Plymouth Street rod, that has just been finished. I want to copy the idea of the stripe.
