Re: 65 C10 SWFS BBW "Clyde" @Poypeyes Rod Shop
Hey Chris!
Things are looking good! I don't know if you noticed in my thread, but I had a similar problem with my roof and the tin-canning effect....Funny thing, but I never noticed until I thought that I had it ALL fixed, that the driver's side rear roof & drip-rail were pushed down about 3/8" from the opposite side. Needless to say, total re-work with a sledge-hammer, and a body contoured 2"X12" placed strategically under the rear ledge of the roof fixed that, and also took care of all of the plastic work that I had labored so hard on!!! Oh, and I would like to make a correction to your post that shows the door-jamb work: GM had plenty of spot-welds, but on my cab, the only sign of seam sealer was in the rain-gutter. I must have spent $200 on epoxy seam sealer doing the door-jambs, doors, rain-gutter, cowl & firewall. As far as spot-welds go, the dash on the passenger-side had a boat-load of attempted welds along the lower windshield, & cowl that never took! The dash & glovebox must have rattled like hell!!!! LOL! Probably one of the reasons that mine is so rust free, nobody could stand to drive it!!! All of that is fixed now!

Thanks brutha, yeah that roof was no walk in the park.....lol. I did notice that in your thread, I spent about two hours reading through your whole thread the other day. Sick build by the way!!!!!! Our fix was about a million studs and a ton of pullin, but its worked out now. I just assumed about the seam sealer because mine had it all in the jams and all over the floor before I had it blasted. Someone before me must have thought it needed it.

The guys at the shop are moving right along on the bodywork...the passenger side needed a good bit of work.
My wiring kit came in from American Autowire....super nice stuff

Re: 65 C10 SWFS BBW "Clyde" @Poypeyes Rod Shop
The guys at the shop are really kicking butt these past few weeks
The start of a smooth firewall Wheels and tires came in, got the Nitto 420s mounted up...love the tread pattern on these. Rear wheels don't quite fit though so we have to widen the tubs and narrow the rear end Here's a measurement of the original style tubs. A measurement on the new tubs we welded in One more

Re: 65 C10 SWFS BBW "Clyde" @Poypeyes Rod Shop
Chris,
The tubs still look kinda narrow...What wheel/tire width are you runnin on the rear? Is your tire gonna go outside of the inner box-sides? My tub is 13-1/2" wide & I have only about a 1/2" of clearance between the tire and the inner side of the tub with 315's, but the outer is also inside of the box-side. Your wheels look awesome by the way! I probably would have went with that style of wheel if I could have got the width & backspacing that I needed....Definitely sweet!

Re: 65 C10 SWFS BBW "Clyde" @Poypeyes Rod Shop
Chris, my wheel is 11.5" wide which makes it 12.5" wide across the outside, and my tubs are 13.5 wide across the inside...Add to this the fact that my rear-end is all fresh and I didn't want to re-address it, or the costs of buying new axles...again!
My wheels are spaced to be within the INNER box side and the tub... I didn't want the possibility of the return lip on the tub to ever come in contact with the tire, and I am running stock bed height/tub configuration (except for width). I decided that is was a better choice to pay a little extra to buy a custom offset wheel to get the width & backspacing that I needed than to narrow the rear-end, and Travis at Pro-Performance really pulled this off for me! Either way, the placement of the wheel was critical!

Re: 65 C10 SWFS BBW "Clyde" @Poypeyes Rod Shop
Sooo...we got some stuff accomplished over the weekend...here ya go!
We decided that the last firewall piece we made was inferior compared to the rest of the truck......so we threw it away and made a new one...4 times...lol...this is what we ended up with....and we are aware that the PB hinges are all wrong...were fixing that this week I spent a few hours taping up the finned aluminum dress up goodies We got the awesome Vintage Air Front Runner setup installed....more work than you would think. The Sanderson Ceramic Coated Block Huggers....these things are really nice compared to stuff I've used in the past Frame Prepped for Paint Boom!!!...All done A few detail shots
