Thanks for the tips! So on the engine stands, are they the earlier ones with the single stud or the '73 up clam-shell ones? Still trying to get a grip on this V8 or forward position thing.... Headed to the boneyard this weekend for some of those bits so I can mock mine up and make the hole in the floor.

Yup, just the single stud type. Are you doing a similar trans transplant?

Yup, the same thing! I had posted over on your "Yessss!! Out with the TH350, in with the M20, have a Q or two" thread but then found this one, which I'm glad I did. Headed to the boneyard today and probably would have bought a stamped steel clutch fork when I already have the forged one here.

Spent alot of time over there myself. I know what you are facing each day and it is good to see you have a great sense of humor while your truck is being reborn!

I am now stuck in Maryland (I am a Phoenix native) and hope to get back out there someday soon...

Stay safe and sane...

Oh yes...I am subscribed...love 68's

Hopefully not the grind, jamb, or howl part

Well, the boys got after it a bit today after a week off for a last minute mini deployment. Hoping for pics soon so I can post and oh yeah, another slight fail from a place you wouldn't expect it... stay tuned...

"Funny".

That's what my wife says when I tell her I need something else for the truck.

Re: Devastation and Reform - abused, beaten, and botched yet unrefined 67 SWB

Well, we have some progress to report. And a setback from left field. And progress

Started getting the clutch linkage going together and discovered that despite having nearly two sets of stuff, there was no clutch fork "nut" (the chisel shaped thing that contacts the fork, pic #1) and one of the rods seemed short. Hmmm....

Our in-house incoming parts quality control inspector was apparently distracted by his girlfriend or something and one got past him. Uh, two actually.

The reason the linkage was short? It had been cut and welded shorter. What are the odds? easy to see now.

...and why spend 15 cents on a cotter pin when we have all these bent nails around?

A bit of head scratching, a phone call and a trip to our nearby truck parts guy and back in business

Great thread. Your boys really get stuck into it.

Your trucks previous owner must have been related to mine. Wire "throttle rods", firbreglass "repairs", and a host of other interesting ideas.

Sounds like our PO's could be related. Alcohol and bad judgement often leads to inbreeding amongst those with quantum mechanical engineering "gifts"
