Yea the Summit pump is LOUD. It's almost as loud as some cars! But Super 44 Flowmasters on BBC drown it out nicely! I'm not sure who makes their pump right off but works great. I'll try to get link later when I'm on computer if you would like to look at it.

Check the local craigslist to see if anyone is parting a 67-70.
Out of curiosity is there anything wrong with the old tie rods?
If they are tight there is no reason to replace them, just paint them and reinstal them.

No worries, I appreciate the help but don't go out of your way for the link. I am trying to find a quieter pump, or just a quiet pump in general.

I know the guy told you it would be easiest to get a 67-70 centerlink but what's easy is an opinion because it's going to be harder to find the centerlink in my opinion I would buy the 71-72 tie rods and sell the 67-70 tie rods, or see if ECE will take them back.

I don't know, what year are you spindles, 67-70 conversion drop spindles or 71-72 stock style drop spindles?

So here is my theory after some painful thinking, I think my "1970" truck is in fact a 1971. The front was a disc setup when I originally got it. The center link is a 71-72. And now, yes just now, after test fitting the ECE front rebuild kit for a 67-70 truck, aren't fitting. Sooo, instead of my run i was going to do, I am going to run down to O'reillys and see if they have some steering/suspension parts for a 71-72 and test fit those and see what happens.

Ok well the fix is obvious if the 1971-72 tie rods fit the spindles, send the 1967-70 rebuild kit back and get the 1971-72 version.
You should have the option to pay for the 1971-72 kit and they will ship out the new kit and then credit your card for the returned kit when it gets there, that way you have a lot less down time.

And so the puzzle begins. Just picked up a 71-72 inner tie rod end, and a 71-72 lower ball joint.

The 71-72 inner tie rod end is definitely a no go, doesn't even come close to fitting, however. The 71-72 lower ball joint looks like it may fit... loading pictures now.

If you have a 1971-72 centerlink then the 1971-72 tie rod should fit because the hole is larger in the 1971-72 centerlink which means the 1967-70 tie rods will be sloppy when installed.

Dude I dont even know. The center link will not even come close to even accepting the 71-72 tie rod ends, when i put the 67-70 in the center link, they fit, but the nut will bottom out on the shaft before the tie rod end even comes close to seating into the center link.

I would call up ECE and order another set of spindles, but I don't even think that would solve my problem. The center link is still fisting me.

That is exactly what should happen when you try and instal a 1967-70 tie rod into a 1971-72 centerlink, however I am perplexed why the 1971-72 tie rod is too large diameter to fit unless they gave you a outter tie rod instead of an inner.
Take your digital caliper and measure and find out whats going on with the centerlink, spindle and the tie rods, you may find you have the wrong tie rod end not the wrong year, keep in mind they are tapered so you will have to be careful how you measure.

Well not much progress has been made on the truck itself, but I have been making purchases and talking to vendors. As far as the front steering linkage and spindles. I have resorted to switching everything over to a 71-72 setup, i've also switched out the ECE spindles and brake setup with something a bit more fancy. These pictures are about the extent of what progress I have made. Ordering brake lines has been a royal pain in the ass.

Got my Control Arm and rear disc brake kit. The control arm is from CPP and the disc brake kit is from The Streetrod Mfg. Co. Neither are permanently mounted just yet. Still need the proper nuts to hold the control arms in place and I am waiting for the calipers so I can get the brake lines bent up. All calipers are going to be black, and the rear disc brake bracket is going to be silver.

A few goodies. the Black and Chrome should go well with everything. Chose these specifically for the color scheme, performance and the quite-ness of the motor.

While still awaiting parts and things to complete the frame and suspension. Decided to work on the cab some more.

Despite how clean the truck looked on the outside. There is definitely some body rust on the cab that is going to need some fixing. Not my favorite nor is it something i am looking for to but it has to happen. The cab is going to be sandblasted, however, do I do all rust repair first or sand blast first and repair the rust after???

I noticed you also have a 1972 rear brake crossmember so it looks like your dad went to alot of trouble to switch it over to 1972 brakes.
