Still working on the bed floor, damn 72 has a notch out for the frame rail that I had to convert to on the PU floor bed I am using. I am almost ready to put all the crossmembers back on the bed and paint it. Then onto the cab.

The rear cross member from the Jimmy on top. I still have the same thing on the other side to do.

Got the first 6 inches on the bed floor attached. Didnt go as smoothly as the back sectioning due to the fact that the pieces are from 2 different trucks.

The orange metal you see, the glove box door and the wiper cowl are going to be the ONLY pieces of sheet metal that are going to be orignal to the Jimmy when it is done. Everything else is getting replaced.

Keep the pics coming! I am watching you to see how to do my patch panels! My frame and running gear are almost done with POR15. That stuff looks nice when its new doesn't it? Keep it up! Jeff.

I have to do some floor board work, kick panel work and front door pillar work. Should not be too bad, but every little tip helps.

Best tips I can give is to space your patch panels out, don't butt them together, use flap discs to grind down the welds, and do short tack welds, all those tips make things a whole lot easier.

I liked your one about the thin aluminum models too. I've just got to get my frame done and out of the garage so I can start blasting and welding the panels in. Hopefully I'll finish coating the frame and running gear tomorrow. Thanks again, Jeff.

Been working on the bed floor all this time, all finished in por-15 not exactly show quality, it will be covered by a carpet.

WOW! Talk about a silk purse from a sow's ear! Makes you wonder about these guys that won't touch a truck with anything more than minor rust! I'd rather be in their position to make that choice for sure, but your way really showcases talent, ingenuity, and perserverence.

It also proves that to make a truck your own and unique does not neccessarilly mean a radical custom. Simply returning a "lost cause" back to something resembling what it once was makes it special! Especially in areas where old trucks are not an everyday sight. Kudos!

Wow, its been a long time since I have updated this.

I have mainly been working on making all the necessary modifications to make a pick up cab without AC, with a bench seat into a Jimmy with AC and buckets.

Here is the start of the transformation of the rear of the cab.

For some reason the PO found the need to cut a 2 foot hole in order to put a floor shifter in so that had to be welded up.
