Yes it is a 1971

I soaked mine in KROIL for about 3 days before I ever touched them. They came right off with an impact.

Have you tried a big breaker bar?
May have to use a little heat?

When putting it back together i found that i had to remove the bumpstops in order to get the longer U bolt to slide in place.

yes they have been soaked well. i have not tried a big breaker bar, unfortunately i am working on on jack stands so i am limited on room. basically i am using a 3# sledge and a wedge. i have the nuts off but i can't get the trailing arm loose. i think i am going to use a cutting wheel to cut the u above the perch and hopefully the impact will be able to break it free

No 20's on this one.

After i had the rake set and new BFG's the rallies grew on me.

For me its a snow ball effect 20's lead to big brakes, leads to big motor, leads to porterbuilt, leads to accuair. leads too..........

I'll echo everyone else's thoughts, looks great! I'm pretty sure I'll be keeping my rallys when my drop is complete on my '69.

Wow, ECE said that was how to install the sway bar???? It really doesn't say in the instructions. I did a 3.5/5 in drop (I love rake) and installed the sway bar wrong. I wonder if that is why the bushings squeak incessantly...

Nope it didn't say in the instructions, so i emailed them a pic with it laying on the ground both ways. They told me this was how to install.

I would definitely flip yours over and see how that works.

Awesome! Nice work, nice truck!

Anyone know if you could still carry a 500-1000 pound load with a drop like this?

^^^I carried a load of metal roofing (715lbs) to the scrap yard in the back of mine (4.5"/6") without issue. The rearend hit a couple of times on unseen bumps on the highway, no notch, but nothing other worries.

Re: "Brass Monkey".....Installing 4/6" ECE Drop Kit

Hey... How's it going? Love the truck! I've got a few quick questions. How do you like the front sway bar on the truck? I'm doing the exact same drop. Working on the front at the moment and I've got the ECE front sway bar to put on too. Don't like the instructions but guess I'll learn where to place it... What size are your Rally wheels? 15x8's? Also how do you like the 245/60/15 and
275/60/15 BFG Radial TA's? Do they rub any? Sorry for all the questions. I'm trying to do this all right as I'm still in high school and don't want to spend money so much money whenever I could have done it right the first time!

Thanks!

Questions are always welcome. That's how you learn.

Unfortunately i have only drove it about five miles since it was done. It went straight from alignment shop to the paint shop. What little i drove it i was impressed with the lowering kit and sway bar.

Look a few posts back and i have a picture of the correct way the sway bar goes in. Easiest way for me to get the factory rivets out is to cut an X in the top of the head and knock it off with an air hammer.

The tires fit well. No rubs at all. It does create about 3/4" tire rake using this setup.

I have 15x8's all around. Alot of people run a 7" front, but 8" is what i had and couldn't see buying new ones. They fit good and have no clearance issues.

Good luck on the build!
