Re: 5.3 into 72

What year blazer did the gas tank come out of? Seems to fit perfectly. I like the angle that your engine sits in . Looks factory. I wonder if the same motor / trans mount can be used with a 6L90E trans.... I'm thinking not without a high hump trans cover. What say you experts?

Re: 5.3 into 72

The blazer tank is from an 87. As far as the angle goes I used all ECE mounts. They worked out well. I did have to grind a little on the driver side because the header was really close to the mount.

Re: 5.3 into 72

Just finished my road trip out to pigeon forge this evening for the shades of the past Rod run. It's been my goal to have the truck ready for this since May. I got out here with no issues and knocked down 19 mpg!!! I believe I would've got 20 if I didn't have to go through the mountains. I am happy with 19 though. So far there is a big turnout here. I'm really looking forward to the show.

Re: 5.3 into 72

For the radiator I used an R&D aluminum radiator and I used a corvette pedal.

Re: 5.3 into 72

The time has come to add vintage air to the truck. Has anyone used an Alan grove A/C bracket?

Re: 5.3 into 72

if someone needs one of the Dirty Dingo idler relocater and a modified factory ps/alt bracket that is needed for the Dirty Dingo setup, hit me up. got one with less than 500 miles on it. took it out and put it on the shelf when i went with the LSA top-end and bracketry.

Re: 5.3 into 72

I used KWIK ac bracket on my 56 and it fit really well. Also Holley has nice top mount brackets that look factory. Just a couple more options for your consideration.

Which headers did you go with? Are the long tubes or mid length?

I used Gibson headers. They are full length and do not go below the frame rails.

what is the part # you used for the DD mount. The one on their site for the truck doesn't look like the one you have. What compressor did you use?

Re: 5.3 into 72

I don't remember the part number
The folks at D D said this is the one I needed for a 78 ,so I took his word for it!
The compressor is a Sanden I picked up locally from Century Auto Air Conditioning here in Tucson
It works really good as I have to use blend air or it will get down below 30*
I am using the stock 78 Evap and everything is on R134

Re: 5.3 into 72

Well I starTed my vintage air install just in time for winter! Figured I'd post some pictures. It's been a while since I updated this thread. With the AC compressor I had to move the intake to the drivers side. I like it better, I think it cleans up the engine compartment.
