Re: 1959 Apache Reborn

Ha. I knew you'd say that. I'm just learning the weld side of the hobby... what is needed to weld a steel bracket to the cast center section?

Re: 1959 Apache Reborn

Well its been a while since I have posted anything. Not alot to update on the truck but I did get to start o my shop and I traded my fourwheeler for an 04 silverado that needed the transmission rebuilt. So I have been busy with that. Got a few honey do's to get done with before I can jump back on it. But soon!

Same question. I also would like to know if the angle of said brackets on upper section of the dif have any impact on movement or binding. Are your bars both set parallel to the ground?

Re: 1959 Apache Reborn

No binding issues. The bracket on the opposite side of the link is angled to support the travel. Once the air ride is adjusted to ride height the outside links are parallel.

Re: 1959 Apache Reborn

I tried to find a picture that shows the angle of the two inner links while the
outside links are parallel. Hope this helps

Re: 1959 Apache Reborn

How about welding the mild steel upper link tabs to the cast iron center of the diff? Did you weld it?

Research is showing that a pre and post heat treatment should be used, along with a high nickel or stainless filler wire/rod to prevent cracking/ stress.

Hey guys been a while. Life as gotten a little hectic with household project work and kids going into homeschooling this year but I have managed to get a little work in on the ol boy. I have since gotten my wiring started floor prepped for carpet which should be here next week. Also got my front shock brackets in place and ready to paint them back up.

Re: 1959 Apache Reborn

Been a minute and have not posted in a while. The truck is still in progress. I have fired it up and am on my way to complete it in the next few weeks. I am trying my best to be ready for Run to the Sun. Here is a few progress pictures.

Well got off work and home around 9 and decided to get the bed finished up. Got the push button locks installed and welded in the peg tabs.
