Made some more progress last night. Nothing major but it's starting to look like a truck again! Electric fan is installed, finished up plumbing the brakes, and the passenger inner and outer fenders are hung. I'm very thankful my friends who were willing to stay late and help.

Been working on this thing quite a bit lately, getting ready to turn it over for the first time. Ran into a little issue with my throttle linkage, the cable binds pretty bad because of the severe "S" it has to make right behind the firewall...Any suggestions?

It looks like that is a two piece bracket can you take it apart and flip it over. So that your kickdown cable uses the currently unused hole and throttle cable goes back in same hole. Hope that makes sense.

I did try that, however flipping it also moves the bracket towards the firewall about 2" and it's still not quite lined up with the pedal. The shorter distance creates an even more severe kink in the cable...I think I'm going to end up fabricating a bracket off the pedal and drilling a new hole in the firewall.

Since I'm getting rid of the bulkhead plug and the mechanical speedometer I needed to find a quick and easy way to fill those two square holes in the firewall. Some square tube caps fit the bill perfectly!

It's a very nice product! The only gripe I have with it is that it was advertised as a bolt on assembly that wouldn't need firewall modifications...Not entirely true but oh well.

Went through the heater controls today and ended up replacing the heater core and a few seals. I'm happy with the way the way the temp control faceplate turned out considering what I started with.

No huge progress but I did spend a solid 6 hours trying to install an oil pressure sending unit. I had to remove the oil galley plug on the front of the engine and of course I stripped the allen head out. I was thinking I would have to pull the engine and drill that sucker out but luckily an easy out did the trick! I was pretty nervous for a bit though.

Also installed power steering lines and the drag link. Apparently there's no good way to hook up a 75' power steering pump to a '67 gear box so I'm stuck with this contraption for now...it'll work but it sure is ugly.

Was going to spend the weekend finishing up the wiring but got sidetracked...For the life of me I couldn't figure out why I had a constant 12 volts to both sides of my brake light switch. After a lot of head scratching and foul language I found that my new steering column was shipped with the hazard switch in the "on" position which was causing all of my issues

In order to turn the hazards off I had to install the button, which led to installing the turn signal lever, steering wheel, and shift linkage...And then it was time to shut the shop down for the weekend. Oh well, guess the wiring will have to wait until next weekend.

Lots happening with this build, finally got it running! Unfortunately the PO didn't know the difference between an internally and externally balanced engine, and I didn't bother to check Boy does that make a difference! So I got the pleasure of dropping the transmission and installing a balanced flywheel and damper.

Also had 2.5" dual exhaust run to a pair of Flowmaster 50 series mufflers. I'll get the tailpipes installed once I know where the bumper and hitch will fall.

Now that it moves under its own power (for the first time in 4 years!) I was able to get it on a trailer and over to the body shop. Here we are test fitting the new hood.

Unfortunately the aftermarket hood and fenders are, well...garbage. The drivers side lines up ok after a good amount of grinding, welding, and "persuading", but we were unable to get rid of the 1" gap between the front corner of the hood and the drivers side fender. There is also a sizable depression in the hood where it meets the cowl. About 1/4" low. I am in disbelief. I'm currently waiting to hear back from my supplier to see what can be done but I'm not gonna hold my breathe.

Moving along on the front clip. Finally found a hood and a pair of '68 fenders that were in ok shape. Took a bit to get them straight, but they fit much better than that repop crap. It amazes me how much work goes into painting a truck.

Once again I wish I would have spent a little more time and money finding OEM parts. Putting the internals of the doors together was a nightmare. It would have been WAY cheaper to buy a pair if beat up OEM doors, cut the rust out of them, and patch them up than it was to make this aftermarket junk fit nice.

Here's a prime example of the poor quality contol practices of the aftermarket industries. This picture is looking down at the top of the core support where the upper radiator clamp mounts. See anything wrong with the location of the holes?

Who knows. The first aftermarket core support I had on the truck was really for a 69-72, but it fit perfect. Then I switched to a correct one from the same company but the holes are all out of whack. The only difference I can think of is that I bought the first one about 4 years ago... Maybe quality control was a lot better back then.

I had some undercoating sprayed in the doors and on the floor pan, both inside and out. It's supposed to provide some sound deadening. Also did the final fitment of the front clip minus the hood. Hopefully we'll get to the hood tomorrow and then it's on to paint!

Almost done with wiring. Everything was pretty straight forward except for a weird problem I'm having with the LED tail lights from LMC. For some reason the rear blinkers won't flash if I have the headlights/running lights on. However if I plug in a normal incandescent bulb or even the LED park lights (which have the same plug as the tail lights) everything works as it should. If I plug the tail light into one of the front blinker sockets, I have get same problem. The only thing I can think of is that something is wired wrong inside the LED unit itself. I spoke with an LMC rep and they're sending me two new tail lights. Hopefully that solves the issue.

Badass rig man. With everybody going super low with these truck (to each his own... and I still love these trucks low or high) its refreshing to see a guy with his truck riding high. Can't wait to see it finished.
