Re: 1971 Cheyenne Work Truck

Looks great!!! I guess I must have been napping or under a rock for a while because I just noticed the cab lights...nice touch. Reminds me of the Danbury Mint '72 because of the cab lights and the shortbed.

Re: 1971 Cheyenne Work Truck

I wasn't a big fan of the lights when I bought it, but now I think they are awesome when the lights are on at night.

Re: 1971 Cheyenne Work Truck

Great thread.

Forgive the question, but who showed you the way with all this? Family or do you do this sort of thing professionally?

I’m so impressed by all the amazing work done by the members of this site. Glad to be able to tag along so I may watch and learn.

Thank you, Although I am a Tool and Die Maker by trade, I learned most of this on my own. I have always had a sort of artistic ability that helps. Besides if I screw something up, it's just money. Right?

Re: 1971 Cheyenne Work Truck

My hats off to ya! Lot's of talent and dedication involved. Out here in California we don't have a whole lot of rust to deal with just your typical cab corners, rockers and right front fender below the battery tray. Nice Job...Nice Truck!

Thanks Sheepdip, once I get this project done my wife wants me to build a mustang for her. Probably another rust bucket build.

My son spraying epoxy primer on the underside of the bed. I followed with Raptor Liner. Also used the Raptor Liner on the wheel tubs.

Re: 1971 Cheyenne Work Truck

Thanks for showing your progress, I will start my build next week 72 c10 long bed to short bed. Just so you know your work is inspiring and this type of threats are so helpful to people like me that are on the beginning stages of learning. You might of cover this but what did you with the drive shaft. I'm working on my very limited budget and wondering the options for this. 1 piece or shorten the 2 piece drive shaft?

Re: 1971 Cheyenne Work Truck

I used the original driveshaft and had it shortened. All in it was approx $350, all new u joints, carrier bearing and painted. Goodluck!

Re: 1971 Cheyenne Work Truck

Back at it again! Still needs some fine polishing but the hood and cowl are done. Only the bedsides remain to be painted. Hopefully get those done in the next couple weeks.
