I bought the whole truck kit from Right Stuff Detailing. However, since I'm using a hydroboost system with a wilwood master and adjustable proportioning valve, I used the wilwood lines from the master to the prop valve. I also straightened and re-bent the pre-bent stuff from the prop valve down to the frame. Either way, I did not cut and reflare any of it.

Re: New Daily Driver

The two barrel carb on this old beater just wasn't cuttin' it. I've been collecting parts for the last month or so to swap in a 4 barrel. I just finished up the swap and took it for a ride, what a difference! I thought I might be using too much carb for the little 307 but the 600cfm Edelbrock seems to work just fine. I searched for a used 500cfm unit but they are pretty scarce. I didn't paint anything, I really wish I had an old air cleaner, the chrome one sticks out like a sore thumb, but I had to have one so it'll have to do. Maybe I'll paint it flat black...

Not really a big deal but here are a few pics.

Last time it will look like this... stock.

Starting to come together. only fifteen more trips to the parts store!

Just few things to button up, plug wires, vacuum plugs, and build a new throttle arm.

All done, the damn thermostat housing and oil fill tube stick out like a sore thumb. I'd buy more shiny stuff but I'm not sure if we're going to stay with a gen I small block. And we do, I'd rather it look more stock-ish like STP67-72s Lola does under the hood.

Anyway, with just a couple miles on the new induction set up I'm pleased, the real test will come with the first 18 mile trip to work.

Re: New Daily Driver

Put a few miles on her today with the first long run tonight, 18 miles to work. The new carburetor really does make a difference, no stuttering or stammering while at cruise rpm, just smooth running.

I picked up a TH-350 today. I'll have it rebuilt soon, still need to collect up some supporting parts like a auto steering column and torque converter.

It unbolts on the sides but there are a bunch of spot welds along the lower windshield lip.

Okay, seems like the risk there is warping the lip (seal retainer).

My dash has a bad repair in the radio area. I have a complete dash hanging in the shed but I'm wondering which repair is easier, the complete dash or the center area I can buy for DeWayne at Nsane Hot Rodz. Either way I'll have to have it painted. The boy wants the ability to listen to FM so I'll need to fix this so I can install one of the retro style radios.

Re: New Daily Driver

If you have a complete dash and don't mind cutting it up, then you can cut it like my picture, plus cut between the ovals under the dash pad and graft that into your existing dash. The glove box door, instrument bezel, and dash pad end up hiding most of your welds if they don't come out perfect and you don't have to pull the windshield out. Something to think about anyway.

Re: New Daily Driver

To me, ^^THIS^^ would be the way to do it. Seems like a whole lot less work and potential for warping/damage of other panels.

Re: New Daily Driver

I went to the parts store to pickup a valve cover breather and a new thermostat housing gasket... Walked out with new chrome Edelbrock valve covers, valve cover gaskets, Edelbrock breather, and a thermostat housing gasket. $20 turned in to $75! The worst part is that while they aren't all warped and nasty like to old ones, the engine and engine compartment are so nasty the new ones just blend right in.

Someday I'd like to have some factory Chevrolet script valve covers modified for PCV by n2billet or Delmo and some sort of factory style air cleaner. That would be very cool.

Very nice truck. Doing this way should help keep costs under control.

Love the green too!

Re: New Daily Driver

Got the TH-350 back from the transmission shop today. Bought a used auto column, just need to disassemble and paint it, that should be an experience. Also have a Boyd Welding ready to go in, just waiting for Hart_Rod to get back from vacation so he can help with custom side fill.

Nice parts! Why the 350 instead of OD trans?

Much cheaper to build. Not going to be road tripping in this truck so no need to spend the money.

Re: New Daily Driver

Good looking truck. Think about hard lining the fuel line from the pump to carb. these trucks burn down all the time for that reason and you have a good looking one. Hate to see it go up in flames.
