Re: LT1 GenV swap
Well "fits like a glove" was not said today.... with the motor and trans in, using 3/8 plate as the adapter but not bolted to the clam shell... trans raised till it contact's the tunnel the driveline angle is about 7-8 degreese. Oh and the oil pan rests on the cross member. Could shim the motor mount frame bracket, cut the cross member, or make a custom mount. 2 of the 3 woukd raise the trans even higer.. Yeah I know dirty dingo sells mounts, but the crossmember is still an issue and says low mount ac is an issue.
Think I'm just gonna make my own and call it good.. I'll post pictures tomorrow with the truck manifolds on, hopefully they fit... dont want to build another set of headers... it's rewarding and time consuming all at the same time. Modifying the oil pan isn't a big deal but leaving it at this height leave the steering linkage rod close to the oil pan.. and as the motor mount gets worn it is like to contact. I also havnt turned the steering wheel to see if the rod raises when tm steering wheel is turned. More tomorrow..

I was mimicking the aftermarket adapter plates or so i was trying.. was hoping for the best No biggie, any dimensions available on the pan? Or eta on availability. Gonna look online at the holley pan to see if they are similar in thickness, viewed from the side. Clint

I have asked Holley these questions.
Here is the response I have gotten. "I checked with Product management and we do not have anything ready for release yet at this point on specs or price point we should soon. We are targeting end of February." Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: LT1 GenV swap
Info only, l83 manifolds are a no go.. driver side is acceptable, passenger side impossible without serious frame cutting. Gonna finish mapping out the exhaust ports and get a set of flanges cut out maybe 2-3 sets and sell em to offset the costs.
Gonna go to the bone yard and see if there are any tall hump tunnels to cut out. Clint

I could probably get you a set of 3/8 stainless fanges cut fairly cheap no need to have multiples to offset the cost....

Re: LT1 GenV swap
I'm still sorting out how retrofit the 2015 fuel pump into the 87 tank... it already has a baffle.. but the opening is only 3", and the main reservoir with regulator is 3.15 ish.. plus the upper plastic parts that houses the regulator ...so if use the whole assembly, this is what I think would work out
Basically the octagon shape plate will get welded to the tank, and has the base for the oe sealing ring, a spacer since the o-rings is so thick, and the top ring plate to sandwich it all together. If I could find a flat gasket that fits the pump, that would be better since it could be made out of the same sheet of steel. Kinda stalled out since I'm trying to source a high hump tunnel.. struck out at 3 pick n pulls. If anyone has a line on a 81-87 truck or 81-91 crew cab high hump tunnel pm me. Also looking for pictures of 4x4 suburban floor pans to see if that could work. Hours of searching and can't find a single suburban high hump picture on the Internet.

Can't help you on the high hump stuff.
Have you looked at Ricks tanks.... they have weld on rings and fabrication parts for fitting factory latemodel fuel pumps. Still waiting on a reply from my shop on the other parts. Hopefully Tuesday. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: LT1 GenV swap
Rick's got some nice stuff, pricey, but nice product. I found a salvage yard for the high himp trans tunnel.. got 2 on the way.. one for me and one for the next guy that has trouble sourcing a high hump tunnel. Gonna toy with the fuel pump sender again.

Re: LT1 GenV swap
Got the pair of high hump tunnels in today.. who knew this Friday the 13th was also hump day
One for me and one to sell. Both in perfect shape. Gonna plan out how to go about trimming the tunnels to graft them together. Seen a post that did a high hump swap.. gonna go stare at the pictures before cutting mine. I'll be taking pictures and maybe a how to one day if the pictures turn out Clint

Hey that's great. Did you notice Holley has the dimensions for the 302-20 oil pan posted. Looks promising lots of clearance under the front of the engine.

Re: LT1 GenV swap
Man the point in a project when you just say wtf... we'll there and the mood passed...
Got the tunnel trimmed to fit Used a silver sharpie in my case and outlined the panel with it. (No need for a picture) Placed 1" masking tape on the inside of the sharpie line Lay the panel on top, if I seen tape, I adjusted it so when I cut the inside tape line in would have about an inch from the new panel. Cut and sit back and realize what you just did.. Hump ready to be installed which ever method you like, rivet or weld Now, I like the pan clearance.... So being the floor panel and all, laying the panel on top and installing it probably won't show though the floor insulation and carpet, but I think trying to butt weld the panel flush will be too much effort and lots of fristration Now I just need to prep the two for final assembly but for now, it can be riveted together Clint

Re: LT1 GenV swap
I am working on this same swap in my 71 c10 right now. I wound up using the dirty dingo brackets with a f-body ps pump. For the most part I like the way it all fits but hate Dirty Dingo carved their name in everything so blatantly. Wish holley kit was available. I don't have the BCM or Fuel pump module I had just planned on using a Walburo pump with vette filter regulator to supply fuel to the high pressure pump. Will this not work for the L83?

Re: LT1 GenV swap
Just checked holleys site. Estimated ship date is 2/7/17 on the pan. The $400 price tag makes it a better option than the vette pan as well.
