yeah, the warranty info is with it, no break in instructions....bought some Lucas break in lubricant to add to the oil for the first 500 miles...

hi eldo jim, I waited a year before I put the cam in it, wanted to make sure it didn't have a problem. I,ve used that same cam on two 350 engines it works great. the 10067353 idles at 18 inchs of vacuum and gets 14 mpg on the freeway so I would recommend that engine for these trucks. for reliability and good torque for a pretty stock engine. good luck with yours, BROWN 70

what brand of cam did you use, and you said you have a high performance mag, what is that?

Cool!!!! are you going to paint it a different color, any cool upgrades? I got some cool aluminum valve covers for mine, will take pics when I get the engine painted and intake ,carb. and valve covers installed, will be a week or two, my tractor is taking up my shop right now for a few more days...

Yes, it's going to get scuffed and painted with some Chevy orange engine paint after I get the intake installed. Just a "boring" factory looking install.

I scuffed my GM crate up with scotch brite and painted it with VHT Chevy orange. VHT is the best paint I ever used on an engine... I think you would like it.

I painted mine with VHT satin black to match my valve covers. I was going to leave it alone then I noticed a lot of bare areas.

If you want a SERIOUSLY durable paint job that will last and retain its gloss for years, you'd need DP90LF primer followed by leaded acrylic enamel shot from a gun, which is what I did. But it's a lot of extra cost and work, VHT looks pretty good when you price it out!

This is a couple of weeks old and still looks wet, and it still does today. And I didn't clear coat it...

Only problem is for proper adhesion you'd need to start with a bare block like I did (it was hot tanked and baked). If you're painting over existing paint, the best you'll ever do is as good as the underlayer of paint.

Thanks, I bought VHT....yours looks great...don't think I will bother with painting the exhaust manifolds....

Thanks for the pics. Your engine is a really sharp! That's exactly the paint I was planning on using. My engine will look just like that with exception of a cast iron (painted) intake and factory air-cleaner.

don't know how to turn the pics....painted my engine,installed edelbrock airgap manifold, will re-use my edelbrock 1406 carb that is currently on my truck, will have aluminum valve covers when in the truck....may change the engine by the end of the week....if i have time...

Can someone answer kind of a newbie question about these engines? What are the squarish brackets that are welded to the valve covers for? Is there some sort of a plug wire "tree" that snaps in them?

For some reason it REALLY breaks up the lines of the engine in my head. Must remove!!

On my engine they're for attaching the wire looms going to the choke, alternator, etc.

I don't think you'll hurt anyone's feelings if you adios them.

x2 would look better without them...I am going to run a cool set of aluminum valve covers I just bought...I have to add a hole for the oil fill...couldn't find a set that had the three holes....I had to do this on my son's truck too Saxart, how is your engine coming along?

notice in the pics of my thermostat,I drilled a small hole in it,I always do that..it will help purge the air out of the block when you fill the radiator, an old trick from my father in law,will help from getting an air pocket in your engine....

Where are you getting paint with lead in it?

getting started pulling out the old engine.....will clean up and paint the inner fenders when the engine is out....

I highly recommend the VHT paint and also por 15 exhaust manifold paint. Comes in a pint can and you brush it on. It really holds up. Used it on my camaro manifolds.
