I am supposed to tour one of the local body shops soon. They have just installed a radient heat system. It is above the floor and runs a long trunk along the ceiling. They use it in their paint area and have no concerns about fire. It is a gas system. He tells me his energy usage has been cut in half. The system is not cheap (don't know a price) but will pay for itself by allowing the shop to be used and earn money year round. I do some work for area farmers when needed.
Or the outside long log stove. Or a co-worker sells corn/wheat stoves. Good for about 2,000/2,400 sq. ft. My shop is 2,800 total subtract the bathroom so it would be close. The building is also totally insulated. Doors, too. Will be working to make it completely airtight now. You would not believe how dark it is with the doors on. Can see every little speck of light. Mostly at the corners of the floor. Will spray foam sealant in the lower track. I will send the stuff this weekend.

 My parents are building a 30x40 shop at home....can't wait to pull my truck in there and work on it once it is completed!

Looks like you could use about 20 tons of gravel next, we use the same heat system your talking about in our warehouse, they are much cheaper to run than the old forced air gas hanging units we use to have.

I don't have a new pic. We have the bathroom built and are now building shelves and storage areas. Starting next week on the paint bay.
I have the materials for the interior door for the paint bay now. I am building a large entry door to get the vehicles in and out. It will be a rolling door and contain filters. When the door is closed, it will provide all the filtration into the room. I have a load of 6.5" C's coming next wee also. These are for spanning the ceiling. I will be using steel for the joists and mezanine. Wanting to stay consistant with the other materials and fire protection. Also stronger than wood yet smaller. Gives me more space. I will post when I get something to show. It is 24 degrees this morning and my body says wait a little bit. I will be down there most of the day moving parts. Three trailers to unload.
