Re: Kel's '50 GMC 1/2 ton build
Just didn't like the way the bed looked after sanding, but managed to get fenders painted just before dark.

Those look great.
When did you say we could start dropping parts off to be painted?

Re: Kel's '50 GMC 1/2 ton build
Update to and OLD thread. I took a pretty long break from this, and on top off that, ended up sanding/grinding ENTIRE project down to bare metal due to not addressing the surface rust then repainting...took a lot of the fun outta the project, but, upward & onward. These are latest pics, should have it fired up tomorrow. Much to do...but much more accomplished, Kel

More pics...
The tires came with the Foose wheels. Only paid $1200 for everything. Guy had them on a '65 GTO, tires only have 10 miles on them. Anyway, don't much like the rear tires, I'll drive on them for awhile but really need more tire there...

Bad news about the re-paint, but it came out good.

Re: Kel's '50 GMC 1/2 ton build
Does yours have the spacer blocks under the bed supports?

Re: Kel's '50 GMC 1/2 ton build
Yes sir. I do realize I don't have the sill plate, nothing is bolted now, just trial fitting and seeing how color scheme came out... On another note, despite the freakin hot temps down here in South Texas(94 at 6:20) and working in the Easy Bake Oven, got the LS cranked up, wiring cleaned up and windshield installed yesterday.

Re: Kel's '50 GMC 1/2 ton build
Getting real close now...Vintage Air system is all hooked up, just needs charged. Seats set in for mock up. Playing with exhaust. My first thought was to run 2.5" all the way back, that's what the 2, 45"s were for, to raise up to go over axle. but after searching site, saw several just turning down in front of axle. Seems easy and cheaper.

As far as that goes, not real crazy about my center console either. But I did make it from scratch, so I kinda want to use it...at least till I come up with something different. I think once I get the added armrest incorporated into it, it may suffice.

Re: Kel's '50 GMC 1/2 ton build
is the exhaust plan to keep the exits ahead of the tires like the pic? just wondering because they look like they are aimed right at the back corner of the cab. with the heat, moisture and the oxides coming from the pipes you may end up cooking the paint off and then rusting the area. that would be a shame for sure.

Re: Kel's '50 GMC 1/2 ton build
if you arent afraid to take the seats apart again just give them a little more slope, like an inch down in the back. even my kitchen chairs are about an inch slope.
I happen to like the console! I just traded the wood console my father in law put in his 2500HD for a center seat, shoulda got the one with the console and cupholders because I have neither now, driving home with coffee is an adventure!

Re: Kel's '50 GMC 1/2 ton build
Big milestone today. Got to the point where could take truck out of shop on its own power. Probably 40 some years since that happened. Still much to do, today pumped me up to keep grinding. Here is a short vid of the "cruise", Kel
