Thats an awful big load of wood for the truck to not even be squatting a little bit. Not even the tires.

Shows that these pickup trucks were built from a car platform. Shows they are both in their entirety. Shows they began as cars but ended up as trucks. I don't need to insult people who disagree with me. I am too intelligent for that. I also don't find this thread sad, or even your posts to be sad. It's all good, but I'm done. I am intelligent enough to know when to walk away. Just too cocky to roll over or run from a good debate. This merry-go-round is making me dizzy anyway
It seems to me every point you have made is pretty definitive and I completely agree. If it's designed to be used as a truck, and the manufacturer calls it a truck, and some states title it as a truck, then it's a truck. Seems kind of hard to argue that.

That's exactly what I was thinking! Optional heavy duty rear springs...and solid tires?

Re: Is this vehicle covered by the site???

I had a 1971 El Camino SS... It hauled nothing but a$$. LOL!

I never considered it a truck, and having the stock 4 link in the back was a bonus to set up for drag racing. Even though I think El Caminos are cool as all get out, I think they are just a modified A-body station wagon.

Here is a shot of my '71 Elco on the trailer before heading out to the races one chilly late spring day about 1993. Being pulled by my '79 K25 High Sierra.

Your thinking is correct, that is exactly what they are with some upgrades over the coupes and sedans.

So I'm the original poster on the thread.
Note to self: next time you are bored and thinking of asking questions out of curiosity....STFU!

Sorry for any "overly spirited" debate I've caused. I bought mine for muscle car use, rarely used it as a truck, and love cruising in it.

Yeah, it swerved around and bounced off a couple of curbs, but didn't roll over or spin out, so it's all good.

Car, truck? I don't know. I do know that the 80's models are starting to grow on me...even the ones with oversize bumpers. Weird.

Doggonit! I wanted you to agree 100%. I guess you're right, though. I'm having a vegetarian meal tonight... slow cooked pork butt with Scott's sauce, slow cooked collard greens (well seasoned) and beans done up royal.... burp! Do vegetables have butts anyway?

Beef is beef and it's meat, just like the El Camino is a car and it's a truck

If not for your fantastic topic, we would not get to see all the fantastic pictures and spirited debate. I think we still need to see some pictures of yours, even in its current condition would be good. I especially like this picture from greentruck

I'll admit it, I was drawn back to this thread 'cause of that sharky looking CADILLAC. I'm pretty sure it's a funeral home flower car. If you google images for funeral home flower car.... there's a variety different makes old and new.
