Progress has been a tad slow. I switched gears a bit from the tailgate and back to the cab. I installed the new driver door on and worked on aligning it. Gaps looked good with the b-pillar, but no bueno on the rocker. I installed the rocker back when I thought I was going to use a re-pop door. At the time I sliced and fixed it so it fit that door better. Well with this original door, the gap isn't very even. I figure if I'm going through all this work that I need to do it right. So I hacked that rocker off and will be replacing it. Ordered a new rocker, should be here next week.

Also worked on sanding the glaze on the roof. Just needs a little touch-up at the front lip.

Attached the fender on with the door. All gaps looked decent other than the rocker.

Had an old re-pop replacement rocker but it didn't fit very well. I'm hoping the new one I get is a bit better quality and require less slicing and dicing.

Decided to throw the passenger fender on too for kicks. Lined up decent.

Glaze on the roof

Lots of sanding. I think the drip-rail shave is starting to pan out. Had a slight crown as you can see by the metal spots but it smoothed out nice and shouldn't be noticable after the high-build is sprayed. Need to clean up the front lip a bit.

While waiting on my new rocker to show up, I continued with body filler and sanding. Worked on the firewall and inner cab mostly.

Roof is all done. Nice to have that big area wrapped up.

This was the cab one year ago. Helps to look back and see the changes to keep motivation up.

Finally calling the firewall done! A lot of time spent on the area. Going to get some seam sealer for the firewall channel in the next week or two.

Body filler over the inner windshield patch. Will get some glaze on it this week and then call it good.

Body filler on the majority of the back of the cab. It really sucks sanding inside the cab. Legs get real sore on the metal floor!

Thanks! I've been using Evercoat products. The glaze is called Evercoat Metal Glaze. I'm using it over the body filler that was sanded down with 40grit and then sanding the glaze with 80 grit. Next step will be high build... Hopeful to have that done by spring.

Interesting. I have not heard of the glaze over body filler. I will have to look this stuff up and see if its something I need to be using. I'm building a daily so the paint doesn't have to be spectacular

Been gettin' after it in the shop lately. Still sanding on the interior of the cab. Had to switch gears though as I need to get some more supplies.

While waiting to get my supplies, the new rocker I ordered came in on Friday. I spent Saturday night and Sunday installing the new rocker.

Finished the glaze on the inner windshield patch. Turned out pretty good. Also cleaned up the roof lip and various other little areas.

The rocker I ordered was okay quality. I probably could have left it as is and it would have been decent... But going through all that work I wanted the gap to look perfect. So I cut the rocker in half as well as various pie cuts.

Once I was happy with the gap, I started welding the top section back on.

Pie cuts up front. I'm thinking this is pretty common on most rocker replacements.

Welded and started grinding. Will finish cleaning it up this week.

Well done sir. Looking good! I pie cut mine for sure, all over the place... One thing to remember that I didn't think about until I was done was for the front of the rocker, door gaping, you may want to hang your front fender and make sure the door and fender are good with spacers if you use them.

I hung my doors the way they were from PO and there were no spacers in door or fender. So when I finished both my rockers I noticed that the doors are sunk into the frame pretty far and need spacers to push them out which means my rockers are going to be sunk in depending on how far I space out my doors, and then the fenders will need spacers too probably. I dread the fact I may need to cut up my rockers again...

Are you going to spot weld the top inside edge of the rockers to the floor pan or are you just welding the surrounding edges?

Good thought. I was thinking the same thing so I did hang a fender before I started welding the fender back together. Regardless, I'm sure it'll be a big chore when the time comes to align all the panels to set my gaps.

I do plan on spot welding the rocker in once I'm complete with the rocker massaging. It's currently just tacked in place. Hopefully I can knock it out tonight!

Keeping up on the progress. Spent the week working on the tailgate and rocker. Finally got the rocker fitting pretty solid. Threw the door on for a quick check and then did the plug welds. I'll get the bottom lip when I flip the cab for undercoating.

Welded up the spot weld holes and trim holes on the outer skin of the tailgate. I also got a tailgate handle relocater kit off eBay, so I'll plan on welding the filler patch this next week.

This weekend I went and visited my parents and was able to pick up some more supplies for the bodywork. Got home and finished sanding the back inside the cab. Lastly, I started putting some body filler on my inner passenger door skin. Where I welded the patch panel in there was a slight high spot. It looks like with a little body filler I'll be able to blend it in.

Plug welds on the Dr rocker. I'll add one more on top and all the bottom lip when I flip cab.


Driver door fits nicely.


You can see where the high spot is on the pan door where the patch panel was welded in.


Back of cab is ready for high-build.


Here is my dad's 68 Camaro project he has had for awhile. Was helping him replace the floor pan while I visited him down in Pullman.

Been flirting around with the idea of either fabricating or purchasing some louvers for my hood. I figure since my cab already has the drip rail mod that it would add to the custom look. Found this Camaro hood picture online. My spare truck I bought came with a hood with a scoop so I figure I could try it on that and if it didn't turn out right I can use my original hood. Based off my initial research it would take a good amount of work and I would have to be cautious welding/cutting in the hood skin. We shall see if it comes to fruition.

Thanks! The cab was primed a long time ago, so I scuffed it up with some 120grit. The body filler probably could be done in a day's work. It took me awhile because the hand sanding on the contoured ends and I had ran out of filler. It also took a couple of breaks between sanding because my legs would get sore working in an awkward position.

Worked on fixing my radio cut out. Was more time consuming than I thought it would be. Took awhile to get it to fit snug with the radio. Used a step drill bit for the holes. Turned out fitting pretty good.

Looks good man, now I think I better get the dimensions of the retrosound radio to make sure my radio fix is correct size before I paint!

I just noticed your ignition hole has 3 tabs cut out, is that factory? Mine doesn't look like that...

The ignition hole seems to be factory. I'm pretty sure I took the factor ignition out of it back in highschool. I did a quick search and I think '67s are a one-off year for the ignition hole. Hopefully someone else can chime in

I haven't posted in awhile. Progress has slowed down a lot since I've been working out of town the last month and will be through the summer. I had a few hours this weekend to work on the cab. Finished sanding on the dash. Starting to clean up inside the cab to hopefully get the interior in primer and sound deadening installed. Then I'll flip the cab and get it in primer and an undercoating sprayed.

Hopefully I'll get more updates in the coming weeks.

Had a couple hours free to work in the shop this weekend. Took advantage of the time and was able to install the tailgate handle relocate patch. Fit was pretty decent. Also started to weld the tailgate back together. Will finish it up another weekend.

It was a lot of work. Still not perfect but after a little body filler it should look pretty straight. Plus it's nice to know it won't rust from the inside out

Just have the bottom to weld up and a few other misc spots.
