Re: The new "He shed"
Thanks guys for the comments. Was working on some more shop stuff today. I had the guy that did the 6X6's for me make me an oak block for my anvil. 16X16X24" tall. Got to be over 200 pounds. That should make a good base.

Re: The new "He shed"
Well today was a big day. I got power to the new shop. Everything worked and I put the 66 on the lift to test it out. At times I never thought I would get to this point and now that its done I cant wait to start using the new shop. That starts tomorrow!

Re: The new "He shed"
I need to get some pictures resized and posted. The first thing on the lift was the 66 for some needed love. Got a loose front shock mount fixed, new cab mounts, new track bar, needed a bushing, swapped in another bar, new 2 into 1 3" exhaust, oil change and some front brake pads. This week I'll do speedometer cable lube and see whats leaking on the power steering. Leaking just enough to make it wet, not having to add any fluid very often. Richard do you ever come across any oval or round pole mounted sign frames I could make look like an old school gas station sign? I think that would be cool out front.

Re: The new "He shed"
Finally got some pictures sized to post. The focus has changed from building it to outfitting it. First pic is the first use of the lift. Truck got a lot of needed service. The next few are of the mods to the woodward fab bead roller and the harbor freight english wheel. Both turned well and made the tools much more functional. Got a pair of springs today for the english wheel and they work good. There is a video out there on this mod to the english wheel. He sells a kit to do it. I just machined and made the parts.

Got a 12" plate shear yesterday and working on getting the material I need for a stand for it. Got a welding table in the works and will post that and the build when it gets here.

Re: The new "He shed"
Thats a big table. There is a 4X8 for sale locally that came with a .003 flatness spec. Wants $5500. Way bigger than what I need and way out of my price range.

Re: The new "He shed"
That was a picture I grabbed off the interweb.
I will ask permission from work if I can post pics of the table I will machine in the next week or two. Yea That's to much for that table. You would have to be a production shop for that price. You have yourself a Relax and Enjoy shop I hope to have a shop like that in the near future. .

Re: The new "He shed"
The new welding table showed up yesterday. I have a cart built from 80-20 that I planned to put it on. Got this from weldingtables.com. It is the 3X4 pro series table. Followed the video instruction on the site and it went together nicely. These are laser cut and the fit was perfect. Heres a link if your are looking for a table. http://weldtables.com?afmc=cust1di I have been making hold downs and other fixture stuff while I have been waiting on the table. I'll post some of those as I test em out.

Re: The new "He shed"
For what you get they are hard to beat. They have the fab blocks that are built a lot more rigid for more serious work than what I do and you can bolt em together. I like all the fixture blocks they have and will ad some as the need arises.

Re: The new "He shed"
Nice shop. I’m getting close to committing on my 40x60. I was about to pull the trigger on a pole barn, but this has me rethinking. I’m interested in talking about your shop, I’ll PM if you’re interested in lending me a few minutes. It’s nice the manufacturer is in PA.

Let us know how it works out and what way you go and why. It all helps with giving folks information on options for shops.

Re: The new "He shed"
Shop has been working out pretty good. Have made some improvements. Put 2 LED 4 foot lights under the mezzanine and another one set at an angle to shine under the hood while working. Added one more hose reel over by the tire machine. That gives me reels on each side of the shop with 50 foot of hose. I have done several things on the new welding table and that was a great addition to the shop. Money well spent. Did not take long to get busy.

Re: The new "He shed"
Hey Jimmy. Any pictures of your lighting? I ended up committing to a 40x60 pole barn with a 10x40 lean-to due to time and the worry that I would be over my head putting up the beam building. I do agree the steel building is the better build. Construction scheduled for October(ish). I'll update as it progresses - if you don't mind me hi jacking the thread. I think it's a good idea to have multiple buildings in one thread. I know ive been wishing on this one for 7 years. Hopefully the options will help someone else make decisions.

Re: The new "He shed"
I can get pictures of the lights. I have pictures of a bunch of things I have added to the shop I need to post. I would start a new thread with your pole barn. That will make it easier to keep things separated and will also make it easier to find for folks searching that type of shop. Good to see you have a shop going up. I have learned a couple of things since I did my lighting and would change a couple of things if I did it again. I would have done 3 across instead of two all on separate switches. That would help with the shadows. I added led lighting under the mezzanine and in front of the lift. This worked good and maybe having them lower is a better solution for my shop and the way it is laid out. I think if you do 3 rows of three it will work well in that size shop.

Re: The new "He shed"
The shop has been working out well. It is filled up most of the time with projects. A couple of things I have have learned about the lighting. I need more lighting lower in the building. As the building fills up and stuff gets mounted to the walls you loose a good bit of the reflected light from the white walls. I am going to order some 8 foot led strip lights like a friend is using in his shop. He has the mounted along the girts and it works well for filling the shadows and for task lighting. I have been adding more tools to the collection and expanding on what I had. I added a floor mount drill press, belt sander, a hydraulic tube bender for roll cages. 2 tube notchers and a 4 foot finger brake.
