1967-68 CST wheel covers. Expensive and hard to find.

Re: 1968 Chevrolet CST Survivior.

I have always wanted to try this. I bought some 1969-1975 ish CST wheel covers.

I remove the center caps from the CST wheel covers I bought. I gave them a quick scrub and put them on to get the idea.

I will have my sticker buddy make me the stock sized 67-68 CST bowtie sticker to add to the center of my cheaper, shinier CST Hubcaps.

Cool truck. Like the vibe and the methodology.

Re: 1968 Chevrolet CST Survivior.

Yes it was planned. The 68 was going up forsale as soon as my 1959 GMC was drivable. A good buddy wanted the 68 so I sold it to him now. The 68 is staying in the "circle". I will continue to see it and be around it so it was an easy decision to let it go a little early.

Re: 1968 Chevrolet CST Survivior.

aahhh... I remember reading about the '59 now... and I figured it was a VPA.. LOL. I WAS HOPING to drive my '86 to Dino's... BUT... I decided NOW would be a good time to redo the steering! LOL so I am just finishing up a new gear box install & getting ready to have the colunm rebuilt and then re-install everything. Once I get everything buttoned up I will need to find a place...hhhmmmmm... to do a short test drive to...??? LOL!!

Re: 1968 Chevrolet CST Survivior.

The deal was made today. I am buying my 68 back! The buddy I sold it to back in October 2023 hasn't touched it. I will be waking it up and getting back to driver status! It will be great to have the 68 again.

Re: 1968 Chevrolet CST Survivior.

Went over Tuesday morn to get battery out of 68 and put it on the charger. Batt ended up getting replaced.

The 68 was crucial to helping me get the 59 built and on the road, it makes me smile to use the 59 to get parts and supply's to get the 68 back to driver status!

( I changed the front clip and tailgate on my 59 GMC so it looks like a 56 Chevy, but I still call it my 59)

Re: 1968 Chevrolet CST Survivior.

Lubrication 2-4-6 combo pickle juice. Topical all over Valve terrain and left over in the block. Lubrication is the key to life ! Also installed a different temporary gas tank in the bed.

Re: 1968 Chevrolet CST Survivior.

Pulled distributor, cranked oil pump to make oil psi then I cranked motor for multiple 5 and 10 second bursts to let lubrication work its way in everywhere. Then I put the sparkplugs back in, hooked up the coil wire, poured some gas down the carb and it fired up. Checked the fluids again and let it heat cycle. Shut it off let it cool down. Checked fluids again. Restarted it and idled it around the yard. Very happy!! Around the block next time.

It's funny that the truck never got driven while my buddy owned it but the bed got filled with stuff. Feels good to clean bed out and get truck ready to wash!
