Re: Crash's 69 K10
Hey crash. Just curious, did the 77-79 steering
Box bolt right in? And where did you get the 2" drop pitman? Hope your getting some quality time in the truck After all those months of work. Chris Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Crash's 69 K10
Went for a little drive today and took a few pictures… (WARNING.. LOTS OF PICTURES AHEAD)
Little over 2500 miles now.. still really happy with it.. Get lots of compliments from people everywhere we go.. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Still have a few things to finish.. I also have a problem where the horn wants to honk at times when the wheel is turned 170 deg clockwise.. It does not happen all the time, but when it does I just wave and drive on.. Still considering raising the rear of the truck an inch or two.. not sure yet… Finally.. I have started a new build (Not really a build yet.. More of a plan) in the Alternate Tinkerings section… Of course I do not have the vehicle yet.. but I am working on it… http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=592405

Crash
Did you use the original tie rods from the pitman arm to the steering knuckle? I have the same lift kit on the truck I am building and I ordered the same drop pitman arm, but the stock tie rods that I ordered do not work. They are too long and will never line up. |

Re: Crash's 69 K10
Ahhh the fruits of our labor. pics look awesome Mark!
Thanks for the info on the steering box. I'm gonna take your advice and do this. Seems like one of those mods that in the end, you really notice and makes a huge difference. Chris

Re: Crash's 69 K10
Mark, how do you like the 5.3/4L60E? I'm planning the exact same swap (up to a NP205 as well) and wanted to know what people thought of them. Particularly the tranny.
Thanks!

Thanks, that's what I wanted to hear. ![]() My dad's '99 Silverado has a 5.3/4L60E in it, the tranny's blown up twice. He rebuilt it the first time, and a month later it blew up again. After he rebuilt it the second time, there were no problems, and that was 5 years ago... It's my understanding that if you just upgrade the sunshell then that will make them stronger. I was contemplating either the 4L60 or the 80, but decided I'd probably go with the 60 since you don't have as much momentum it. Thanks again!

Re: Crash's 69 K10
Thank you!
I was you also saved me $200...I didn't know that the T-case support column could be machined and reused for the 4L60. Glad I read your thread over again. ![]()

Re: Crash's 69 K10
I didn't find any detail's on the step bars, what year and model were they manufactured for and did you modify the mount brackets?

Re: Crash's 69 K10
The AC is great... But I found myself not using it as much as I thought I would. Something about driving these old trucks with the windows down.. Just feels right to me..
