Re: Dutch '59 Fleetside Longbed
I've checked it on my iPad, there it's visible.
I think that problem is solved Then I had the cable for the carb. GM bracket modified to take the throttle cable and the TV cable: Turned the pin for the TV cable: And bolted that pin at the right place at the carb. You can't connect the TV cable just somewhere on the carb lever, this has to be at the right place to work properly.

Re: Dutch '59 Fleetside Longbed
As you go from a TH400 to a TH700R4 you have a longer "reach" in the shifter rod.
I have a mid '70s Chevy Van column, with column shift for a 3 gear automatic. So the gear indicator is no good anymore... I bought a second hand indicator from a newer Chevy Van, I thought it would fit. But unfortunatly it doesn't. I looked at the internet for an old style indicator, but I couldn't find one. As I am a bit handy, especially when it's for my own , I changed the one I had. Polished the old letters off, made a cardboard template and took the new shift pattern over on the cardboard. Then took it over on paper and painted it on the original indicator This is the difference: Polished off the letters: It's painted on the backside. Paint is still wet, so I will mount it tomorrow and let you see the finished product then

Re: Dutch '59 Fleetside Longbed
At last the pics for the gear indicator, then you have all the pics I wanted to show.
Insert pics via url works way better for me, so I will try to get that going again. In the meantime I upload them as attachment. Hope you can see them now? Let me know

Re: Dutch '59 Fleetside Longbed
I'm Back!
Did suffer some body problems, but in the meantime I did some small stuff. Insulated the roof and put a thin wood panel as headliner. I want to put some licenseplates there. Also went to Rockin' Jalopy here in the Netherlands. This is an indoor Hot Rod Show. Went with the truck, it's a 150 mile roundtrip., the first longer drive Picked up a friend on the way and had a great time!! The truck did great! Lots of thumps up, photos taken along the way, even somebody was filming while driving I'm really happy with the TH700R4 trans. Hooked up the lock-up, it now runs 1600 rpm @ 60mph, not bad! (I use a temporary GPS hub for speed now.) I can use the lock-up in 2, 3 and OD. It's manually switched and when I brake, the lock-up switch off. The trans was equipped with an electronic drive for the speedometer, I want to use the original speedo, so have to change to a mechanical one. A friend gave me the parts to build this, but he didn't have the drive gears I needed. I found the drive gear for in the trans, but the driven gear was a problem. So I ordered a 40T driven gear for the trans after a few emails back and forth. Got the package last Saturday, but the good man put in a 41T gear... So I emailed the good man (it's in the USA...) Today I got an email back with apologies and he said he already sent a new one out!! A 40 tooth, free of charge! That's what I call Service!! Don't know if I may say his name here, but I think he's well known. Hope to have the new 40 tooth driven gear next week, so I can finally use the original speedometer I will post some pics of the show next time.
