Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Filling in ruts and spreading grass seed. The elder widow next door has had some yard work done on separate occasions and the dump truck and trailer guys used my yard as a big old turn around and of course left major ruts. They ran off her concrete driveway onto my yard, and left it that way. She is such a good neighbor and feels so bad about it, I just wouldn't complain. We've been friends and good neighbors for 30 years. Just wouldn't with what they have been through. Anyway I hauled in some top soil to fill and spread some seed. I had a few low spots needing filling in else where anyway.

Must otherwise be a really nice neighbor, is all I'm going to say about this.

Well, that's pretty good, then! My neighbor on one side here is one of those "people who have strong fences makes good neighbors" types. Fences are one thing, but surveillance cameras really do make good neighbors. I'd just as soon not have crazy neighbors like that.

Sold my tahoe after 1 day of being out on the road. New owner is picking it up tomorrow, quickest and easiest vehicle sale I've had.

Today I tried to poop out my new puppy. To wear her out so I could get some sleep.

As I type this it is well after midnight and she's still running at full throttle.

I failed. She wins. And it's going to be a long night.

Way to go for stepping up and taking an all nighter with the pup while the working wife sleeps.

I know that feeling. The wife's new puppy is the same. We ran her up the driveway behind the jeep twice and she was still wanting to play. That's a 1/4 mile of mtn each trip up. Our older dog, a coon hound, had enough and running the driveway is his biggest thrill.

Laid new sod after doing the dirt work to match grade to the driveway and curb I paved last summer. Also a new house number my wife wanted made.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Installed an attic fan with a smart feature thingy.

It legit works.

The A/C guy that just completely redid our upstairs system (to include fixing the duct work that was done wrong) said our attic was way too damn hot (it was like a 75* day it was installed and the attic was over 100*.)

It was in the low 80's the day this was done and it was 105* in the attic. I set it up for low speed from 95-115* and high speed 155*+.

It pulled the temp down from 105* to it's shutoff speed at 95* in about 2 hours. You can barely hear the low speed run.

The Black one obviously was in a fire. It runs just needs cleaned up and front end replaced. The Honda clone has compression, just haven’t played with it yet.

Swapped a new heartbeat into the 79 c10 I recently acquired and plan to sell. It’s a used Vortec 350 with a 4bbl manifold.

You are a hard worker.. I always wanted to do what you are doing ,and come out ahead ,I tried it once but paid to much to start with and barely came out of it with not losing much.. I just gotta ask.. how much profit will you be coming out with after the motor gets in it ,,and you sell it. I'm not asking for a friend,, I am asking for me so I can compare it what I did one time some years ago..

Well I got this particular truck for cheap with no motor, Otherwise mostly all complete inside and out, minus the crank pulley and power steering bracket. The truck is straight, original paint, but does have some minor rust starting in the front fenders, pinholes in the outer rockers, and some rust in the passenger cab corner. floors and all structural parts of cab are 100% solid. Frame is 100% rust free, still in factory paint, and straight. That said, once it’s running and driving I’m going to cut and buff the original paint and just try to get it looking nice inside and out, new carpet inside, new window and door rubbers. (minus the vent windows) I budgeted about $1200-1500 in it on top of the initial purchase, before it’s ready to sell... Would like to think selling it for 7-8K is possible when it’s all said and done, but it’s only worth what someone else will pay. These squares are going up in value just the like the 67-72’s. I can’t hardly afford to mess with most of the 67-72’s in this way any more.
As you found out it’s all in getting them as cheap as possible and being ready to jump when you see them come up cheap.

Shoot I was a bit slow today, took me about an hour to get it stabbed and both motor mounts and transmission mount bolted down. The passenger side mount fought me a bit more than I’d like it to have. I have a feeling that I’m a good bit younger than you guys though. And this always helps too.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Yesterday I rebuilt a hydraulic cylinder for a backhoe and welded a jack on a small utility trailer. Today I got to pull an exhaust manifold and redrill the stripped bolts on a Toyota 22r for the neighbor. I wish it only took 1.5 hours. Bolts went from M8 to 1/2-13s to fix someone else's half #$& helicoil repair!

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Took a 100 mile cruise in the ‘72 and hauled some more 73-87 parts home that I scored today. My wife and kids are up in salt lake attending a funeral, been gone since Thursday. Lots of time for me to do me things this weekend. Got my vegetable garden planted as well, except for the watermelons and pumpkins; the kids want to help with those. Went to Wally World to get some food to make a nice dinner when the family gets back tomorrow night. It Took me three nights but I finally finished my all time favorite movie for the millionth time... The Good, The bad, and The ugly... tonight I watched from blowing up the bridge to then end. It never gets old!

Scored 2 73-80 hoods, a 4x4 high hump, 2 73-76 doors with nice wood grain door panels, a nice straight tail gate, some clutch pedals and linkages, a 2wd sm465, a complete gas tank with filler, 4 16” aluminum wheels, and a few other small parts. I will make my money back probably on the tail gate alone, I need some door gut parts for the 79 C10, the rust free door shells will be for sale as will pretty much everything else.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Sunday afternoon was Impala maintenance day. Oil change, tire rotation, air filter, cabin air filter and drain/fill transmission fluid. Trans fluid was terrible. Black in color but didn’t smell burned. Will run it a bit and do it again. Have a filter for the transmission as well but wanted to get some better fluid in it first.

Sprayed half the yard for weeds. Get the back 1.25 acres this weekend.
