Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
I've been checkin out all the nice trucks on here and I thought I'd join in.
I've noticed this section has grown a bunch since the last time I looked. Really great trucks guys! I traded this 81 for a 79 short bed I didn't keep because of all of the rust it had I didn't know about til I pulled up the carpet. I did a bad trade just to get those round headlights. I don't think I have any pics of the 79. I guess I'll stick to the long beds for now, those were the only shortbed I've had. I've had a few long beds and I guess I like them better for some strange reason. I've put up a pic with my 77 in the background too. Nate. Last edited by heavychevy79; 12-30-2008 at 03:28 AM. |

That truck is on LS1tech.com. The owner installed a LS1 set up and it came out sweet.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
The first two are of my truck and the last is one I got in a email attachment and once I get my step side bed I would like it to look like that. What do you think of the wire wheels there kind of growing on me.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
I am a firm believer in "to each his own" but personally wire wheels look kinda tacky. The ones on the stepper are *****in' though! If the wire wheels are your thing, roll em! But i think there are better options. Beautiful truck tho, lots of great potential! Good luck!

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
I found some more pics on one of these CDs I have laying around.
BTW I didn't do the crappy wal-mart primer paint job. I traded this one for a 98 Blazer which still needs more work than I want to do, but at least it moves under it's own power lol. I'm hoping to see this truck back here in the forum with Cummins power, that's what he told me anyway. I told him to post pics here for sure. Sorry, it wasn't driveable so pics got taken on unlevel ground. And FYI it's sporting the 3" drop spindles off of my black truck. |

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
Tony SS and BruthaMan,
Sorry for the delay in responding. This truck belonged to my dad and he passed away a little over a year ago, so I had to do a little digging before posting an answer. Looks like they cut 1 coil off the front springs and removed all but 2 leafs in the rear. The tires are 255/70/15's. Hope this helps guys! He always had a black GM truck from the time I was able to remember. This was his last and I'm honored to sport it around in his memory. D |

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
dgray, thanks bud, I appreciate the information! It's a very sweet looking truck and I can only imagine the sentimental value it has. Sorry to hear about your father. I'm sure he would be proud to know the time and care you are putting into his baby. That black paint will look like glass, with some Zaino polish on it.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
Exactly! the wires give it a tall lean stance so until I can afford some new tires for my pontiac rally II wheels im stuck and content with the wires.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
what size are those wires? they look real tall . 20's?? i think that with the truck lowered down and a step side bed (to break up all that tall and lean stance your talking about) it will look pretty good. if we remember older cars with wire wheels that we love had a lot more bulbous and shapely fenders and lines and there is a reason we call it a short box chevy....

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
finally got some pics of the '77 i picked up a few weeks ago. got it off ebay for $2500, seems like a decent price. got some things to fix on it, but i drove it 250 miles back to ohio from kentucky. the future for this one is front/rear dropmembers, 20's, some motor add ons, and some interior. just wanna keep the interior simple and the exterior mostly stock.
and the first thing i did was take off the dana loves eric vanity plate as well as removing the dumb stickers and the hideous dash material. lol over the weekend i replaced the radiator and changed the oil. tomorrow night i'll be replacing the plugs, wires, button, and blower resistor. saturday i'll be throwing some newer tires on there. then this will mostly be my daily. but i'm lookin at gettin this '62 panel truck with a straight six for the daily |

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
no it was just this thin material with skulls and glitter all over it. the dash pad is pretty cracked and has adhesive all over the top. i think i'm just gonna order a new dash pad from Brothers. they got a sale goin on now. Last edited by idrgbdy; 01-13-2009 at 06:18 PM. |
