Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
Place an order for a new motor crossmember today. When i slid motor forward to get headers in it made the pan touch the factory crossmember. So this one should fix the problem. I emaild them and they said to use the big block member. I have seen a pic on there site of one installed. So hope it works. I really would like to not hurt my pan.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
Well my battery finaly died on me. Went out to start it to drive to car show and it only just clicked the starter. So we had to take the wifes car... Came home and jump started it and alt is putting out 14v. With truck off the batt is at 12.5v. If any load is put on the electrical system it falls fast. Even with the dome light on it drops. I ran the truck for 15 mins and it still would not crank over buy it self. It is about time i guess. That is the same battery i bougt with the truck in late 07 to early 08. I was hoping it was the alt aswell. It is the only ugly thing on my motor. Did not want to take it apart and paint it. Maybe next time....
So any one know what size fits in the tray with the factory wedge hold down? But it has to be top post. I was looking at a group 47. Not sure yet. May be a few weeks tell i can scrape up money for a new one unfortunitly.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
So after being kinda sad about the batt i tryed to install my new cross member. So i removed the 4 big rivits and 4 bolts. Then tryed to install my new part. It did not fit. It hitts the passenger side of the pan. It wont even bolt all the way down. So i have two chocies. Have the cross member modifyed or find a way to lift the motor up about a half of an inch. Here are some pics. I did notice my engine is a tad lower on the passenger side the the driver side. Not sure how to fix it or what hass happened. Any ideas on my mess?

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
I would have the crossmember bent a little more to give you the clearance you need to bolt it up. Pretty much any mechanic shop with a hydraulic press could do that for you. You will probably have to slot the mounting holes in the crossmember to make it bolt back up though.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
Well i installed the new motor mounts. What a pain in the rear. It took like 3 hours. I would redo the front end in the wifes truck any day of the week befor doing the mounts again. Did lower ball joints, springs, pitman arm, upper control arms on out long bed yesterday and it was not early as challinging. I did get the new crossmember to bolt in now. It just bearly clears the pan. Maybe a 1/16 of an inch. I think the motor still sits funny tho. I had this problem when i installed the motor and it is it does not really fit where is goes. If i have the mount plates bolted to the motor and the mounts to the frame the holes in the plates where the big bolt goes threw the mount are a 1/4 to 1/2 inch wider then the holes on the mounts on the frame. With the rubber mounts it was not that hard but with these ones it was almost inpossible. I had to loosen the plates off the motor, take all the mount bolts off the frame and set motor down and pry the mounts into place. I am not sure if the plates are not right or my frame is not right. But it is back together and running. Yay now i just need to save up for a new battery.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
I finally got the money for a new battery. Got one from orileys. Was going to get a diehard from sears but didn't want to drive that far. Got a bigger one then the one it came with when I got the truck. Now I have to move my cooling fan relays. But that is fine. It starts great again. Yay. Took it to chilies for dinner tonight. It was great to finally drive it someplace. I did find I had a bad negative battery cable I need to replace. Hope to get one tomorrow

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
After driving around for a while i guess the motor seatled some and it is now just on the new crossmember on the passenger side. I also seen that the sway bar was contacting the crossmember. So i removed the custom sway bar end links the po has installed and bolted them to the spring plate like factory. No more hitting but i would love to figure out how the motor is in croked. Any ideas?

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
more weight on one end of the engine (auxilleries mounted on one end of the engine )
it might allso be that that end settled faster because of the torq of the engine or its closer to the exaust and the rubber is getting plyable because of the heat cant you make a small fillplate under the mount to lift it up a little on that side ?

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
Well i checked my plugs cause they were in for over a year with out looking at them. They are very clean still. I also checked the wifes trucks plugs and they were pretty nice. Her headers suck and i ended up breaking one trying to get it out. So now we have 7 old and one new. She cant make up her mind if she wants to sell it or not so that is why it only got the one. Went in to parts store and asked for one plug and air freshener. They actually got my order correct. Very rare.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
you should try to order the parts from overseas i ordered 32 lugnuts for a 1977 C30 and gotten lugbolts for a datsun ...... yeah right like they didnt spot that one as being odd for a truck send it and we never see them again
when in europe you dont just go back to the store in the states (it takes 2 weeks to get here anyway ) kindah makes you think they do it on purpose to get rid of old stock

I hate axes. Worthless for what i was doing. I thought about what the correct tool for the job would be and here is a video of me using it. Never mind the pants stuffed in to my boots. Several thousand stickers got in my shoes and i had enough of that.
