Re: Trucks Are Beautiful
That is a sweet unit. A single axle? Most of em you saw were twin screws. Here is an older one next to one of my fav's. An old AutoCar... Great driver's and kinda private in the cab...

Re: Trucks Are Beautiful
Nice. That one I showed is probably a West Coast doubles hauler.
I believe this one is still a Diamond T. Could be Diamond Reo. Can't see the emblem enough, but this is where they changed.

Re: Trucks Are Beautiful
Ah yes, Campbell Express.
My first memories of trucking companies are Campbell Express in Springfield, Mo, and Garrison Motor Freight (GMF) here in Harrison. WE also had Jones Truck Line which became GMF which became American Freightways which became FedEx Freight.

Re: Trucks Are Beautiful
I can't remember all the trucking company names I forgot. But I remember forgetting about Campbell. Jones does sound familiar. Dark green trucks?

Re: Trucks Are Beautiful
I hate seeing the fleet paint schemes going away. Big white whales swimming the interstate seas these days. Estes is still hanging with their colors

Re: Trucks Are Beautiful
Yeah white is tough to see on a rainy, snowy or foggy day. But the rental/lease companies who set the insurance standards say white is the most safe color. After 40 years in the cab I have to say that is "BS". White is just their cheap alternative. Here some pics of my old companies "safe color combo". http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/i...riotsmilie.gif

Re: Trucks Are Beautiful
"It's fire brewed". Yeah, safety is BS on white trucks a. It's all about cheapest to buy and resale. Just peel off the fleet graphics and put yours on. I get the economics of trailers, but you buy a truck to make money out of till the wheels fall off, not for the next guy, and all those miles on a recognized trucks accounts for beans the counters never get to count called exposure. Makes you wonder why the old trucks got bold stripes, chevrons, diamonds, etc. painted on their front bumpers. I thought it was for safety, but they should have painted them solid white for that, right? Makes you wonder why the new fire & rescue and police vehicles are getting bold chevron stripes across the back.

Re: Trucks Are Beautiful
That's a sexy front bumper on that thing.
Yeah, Digging & Rigging spends the money. He puts that paint on everything, even the pickups and man lifts. It must be nice to be able to spend what you want on equipment pieces like they were toys knowing it will all come back. You can tell he started out operating. He loves the machinery. The stuff he has is insane. It baffles me

Re: Trucks Are Beautiful
This is one bare-bones truck. Sheet metal fenders. No rear fenders or mud flaps. And the roof guage metal must be pretty thin. Just look at the size of that extended flap on the bed. But. It is a looker...
