Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Removed A-arms, shafts, and ball joints. Massive torque and 1-5/8" socket required to loosen the lower A-arm shaft bushings. Lower ball joints were a piece of cake using my handy-dandy ball joint press. Probably spent more time popping the tie rod ends loose.
Hope to get at least the upper A-arms cleaned-up, painted, and assembled tomorrow. Using Moog parts that were made in the USA back in the late 90s. Sadly, I'm not sure they're still made here. The fun of it all!

I finished putting on an edelbrock 600 carb and performer intake. Unfortunately I found out the the floor is rotten right under the gas pedal while adjusting the carb linkage.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
got with nickp51 and went to the pull-a-part and helped him pull an aftermarket cruise control unit, hei dizzy, and wiper delay for his truck. then he helped me pull a wiper motor from the truck that he got the wiper delay from, the nova that we got his cruise control and dizzy i got another wiper delay(the exact same one actually), and a brake booster and master cylinder from a 4x4 square body that i will be putting in my 72. and he let me borrow his welder and i got the driver's rocker ugly-welded back in place, but now i don't have to use the 2x4 that i had jammed between the cab and bed to get the door to open and close. also pulled up the floor mat and tossed it in the back of the truck and found that i will be needing a driver's floor pan soon

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Installed my c-notch today. Casualties: 1 step drill bit, two 1/2" drill bits (one trying to drill out the said step drill bit), two drop lights, and one work shirt eaten by my angle grinder. I did prevail!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Justin and I got the tranny gasket and filter changed out, what a mess! Also got the rest of the AC unit removed from the engine compartment, then started removing all my seat belts, went to find a couple others and started finding all manner of things that need to be cleaned, painted, installed etc..etc... geeze, just got my work bench cleaned off and now I have a whole line up of stuff for tomorrow, lol

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I was sitting here thinking I didn't really get anything done, when I started counting what I did on my fingers. When I needed thumbs and a few toes, I changed my mind as to the progress today.
It started out as a bummer. Rain curtailed any thought of painting parts or anything. I climbed under and bolted up the TH350's torque converter to the flex plate. Not fun with only one guy. Then I connected the front brake line from the proportioning valve. Only to find out the next line (that crosses over to the LF disk) had a hole rubbed in it. Pulled that. Hooked up the '68 throttle linkage to the firewall, since the '71's wire was too short using the '68 cab. I had ordered a IL6 threaded rod to make it from the throttle linkage to the carb. Now, I just have to figure out how to hook it to the Performer carb. Oh, yeah. The 1" spacer for under the carb is back-ordered at Summit until 11/17, so I have to wait anyway. Installed the new brake pedal pad and trim, and snapped on the new excel. pedal (and trim) ....I'm early on this, as the cab's still stripped. But I wanted to see something "sparkle" today. Thanks to the info from someone on the Forum, I decided to pull the valve cover and put a baffle in over the PVC valve. Used the harmonic balancer puller to pull off the ratty steering wheel. It was cool stock, but beat to crap. So, I cut the hell out of it to get at the hub, which I'm modifying for the $50 wheel I got on EBay... Okay...I can post a couple of pictures of that mod in progress. Lots of grinding, etc. I called the guys at ECE to check on my wiring. It's a special order deal. So it'll be here soon (lights and engine compartment). Went to the P.O. and picked up a few parts, including a liquid-filled fuel pressure gauge. Called the Mfg in Anaheim, CA just to check the install. Nice folks. Opened some other parts that came via the Brown Army. Then I opened my Master Charge bill. Looks like the paint has to wait for a while....Yetch!!!!!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Ahhh, the retired life. Took care of the house today and then went to the shop to finish up plumbing the fuel supply.
Left my camera at home again!!! But when I came home, I brought the dash with me for the semi-final set up of the tach. It looks like I'm running at just under 2000. But I'm standing still. Maybe all the banging around? Anyway, my M/C "club" colors got "wired in" and I went for the black and white look. If I didn't break something, I'm done with the dash.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Got my stainless bed bolt kit from Mar-K today. Bolted everything up for a dry fit
[IMG][/IMG] Hope to take it apart tomorrow and drill the offset washers holes and trim the edges to slide the bed strips into. Ambitious? Yes...I think so. Had a hard time findind the boards long enough to cut the 7 7/16ths boards so had to make due with 7 1/4's. Just means I have to custom cut each bed strip depth. The things we do for our trucks! Cold today and supposed to snow so we'll see how it goes tomorrow.

I cleaned out my double pumper and replaced on the truck. I think I have the flooding issue fixed, hopefully.

Well, Got the bed tore back down and the offset washers countersunk. I will try to cut the channels for the bed strips tomorrow. Still pretty happy with the progress today.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
A little more work in the "engine compartment". Fabbed a hub for the Italian steering wheel.
Connected the trans filler to the firewall. Mocked up the Vintage Air firewall cover. Covered a few hoses with carbon fiber mesh. Got the throttle linkage working. "Finished" plumbing the fuel line between the fuel pump and the carb. Can't tighten any of this stuff up, 'cause the carb/intake spacer is still on back-order. Mocked up the engine wiring harness. Have to change out the purple eye for a spade for the starter I'm using. Anybody have pics of the way they routed the + battery cable to the starter? All-in-all, a good day.
