I'm all in on this subject I have run into this before from time to time... Not advisable to pull the harmonic ballancer out that far I know how I would solve it ...longer bolts and a shim plate behind the harmonic pully . will wait to see what you come up with ....Sp . .

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.
Finished tightening my LCA shafts, drilled my brake pedal for power booster install, put in the rest of the grease fittings, bench bled MC. It's off to the hot rod guy next week for cutom brake lines and final check of the brakes and front end work. Alignment after that and then drive the hell out of it!

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.
Welded the 20 plus holes in my tailgate and my repaired end plates back into the gate. Then knocked everything down with a flap-disk before bolting it to the box to check the fit before I mud it up and start prepping for primer.
Need to tweek the DS bolts at the rear cross sill but otherwise looks nice on there. rg |

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.
Thanks softpatch, well I mocked up the alternator and it aligns with the crank pulley so I have a water pump pulley that is not correct. I ordered one today that is supposed to be a direct fit for the 65 283 so hopefully that will correct it.

I FOUND IT!!!! Ok a little overzealous but someone. I think it was either 1963c -10 or Markeb01 inquired about a radio I had mentioned and plan to put new tech in it. I finally found the thread so without further blabbering of me here's the radio thread. Lol.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.
Well got the drive train back in. Installed the exhaust, mounted carb, alternator, distributor and wires. Still waiting on brackets for the spark plug wires so they will look better. Hopefully the water pump pulley I ordered will take care of the alignment situation. Looks like I can not put the body work off any longer........

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.
Went to get that winch bumper today and they wanted 100 for the bumper and 300 for the winch!! It was a Braden pto winch and the actuating lever was sized so I said to hell with it and got that power booster with linkage/bracketry off that GMC suburban.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.
Scored on a toolbox for my truck today for $25. Couldn't pass that up for a non diamond plate box. Seems all that's out there nowadays. I know it's oddball but I've got a friend who can trim it right to fit my truck.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.
Had the truck towed to a shop for new brake lines for the front disc conversion, shorten the steering shaft and brake pushrod fix. Hope to have it back in a week or so!

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.
In Iowa I found these. The black 1962 was on top! The 64 is a pair and the car 63. They got more as well. Had a explosive box but no way of getting it home.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.
Made it work and then took it to a show.
After work tonight I popped down to the local spot where I get a lot of cast off crates, plywood and pallets. I have been planning to create a "clean space" inside the garage for a while, so that when I start the body work on the truck, all the dust stays in one part of the garage. It will also act as the spray booth one I have done all the preparation on the truck. My garage rafters are about 2.3 meters high on their underside, so the 2350mm height of these panels will be just fine. There are two at 4 foot wide and two are 6 foot wide. The guys at the unit said they were unloading another crate the same as the one dismantled and removed today. Today's pile........ and they are looking for people to take away as much as possible, as it means they do not have to create regular bonfires. Wood is at ME3 Postcode area. Back home waiting for me to empty out the garage of trailers etc, and to put up the sides. I will also build in a decent sized door that I can get my R1200GS out when I want to go ride it. Did I mention FREE is GOOD ??

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.
Blocked and scuffed the tailgate since the first few coats of epoxy and shot it again. It's slowly getting there.
Fill - sand - scuff - wipe - prime and repeat. Bless the auto-body workers of the world!!! rg |
