Yeah that's going to be fun! lol tell me how it goes, my friends dad has a 76 with a 355 he said on the hwy he gets 16mpg, I can only imagine the city mileage lol I estimate mine to get like 10mpg at most and that's driving it easy.

Re: Project 78 High Sierra
HAHAHA!!! I hear you there man, I thought I was getting decent mileage yeah I was proven wrong pretty quick that 305 of ours likes to drink! only reason i want to get a 4 speed tranny man or get my 3 speed geared right to where I can get semi decent mileage.

Re: Project 78 High Sierra
I think its just the wat she is setup right now...Because the choke cap is messed up sometimes she is idling higher then she should Plus its city driving, stop and go traffic on the interstate and so on. So cruising in decent traffic might be better and once the throttle and kick down cable are fixed im sure it will be a bit better

Re: Project 78 High Sierra
I agree, mine was idling high when I took her out the other day but I also haven't driven her or kept her running really for more than a couple of minutes so I'm sure that was my issue, but yeah if you have a steady pace she'll do pretty good, the beauty of having old school trucks get to fine tweak them all the time. sometimes i still think about going efi on it but i think its more fun having a carbed motor plus makes it for more work experience.

Re: Project 78 High Sierra
Next question... Is your truck gonna make it 9 hours? Or are we gonna have to make some tweaks on it too? lol

Re: Project 78 High Sierra
lol!! I think it should....I need to tweak the kickdown cable and throttle cable a bit but other then that i dont think it should be an issue...Just hard to get the car going 70 because of how hard it is to push the pedal...LOL We also just need to remember to stop for gas every 130 miles or so lol
