Re: My Crew Cab Short Bed Project, AKA "Project Destiny"

Scot,
The family and I moved to Alaska in 2001, but had to leave a trailer full of our stuff behind.
So in 2003 we made a round trip from Ak to Ok in 2 weeks time to pick up the trailer and bring it up.
Then in 2007 we moved back to Ok, I've been ready to move back to Ak every since we left.
So now we are moving back, we were suppose to leave today but we have been delayed by the shipping company. We decided to ship most of our "keep" stuff this time rather than haul it. We have 4 pallets of boxes ready to be picked up. The shipping company was suppose to pick up last week, but they had trouble arranging a truck with a lift gate. Hopefully I'll be getting a call shortly that they are on their way to pick up so we can leave tomorrow.

Re: My Crew Cab Short Bed Project, AKA "Project Destiny"

I remember reading of a couple back & forth trips so I was curious if it was just desire to live there/here or work that was driving the moves. I can't stand moving just across the city; I couldn't imagine what kind of PITA it is to do the cross country thing.

Good luck with the move Joe! Sounds like an adventure for sure. You must really love the cold weather man.....There is some good salmon fishing up there I hear. Be sure to snap some photos on the haul up there.

Scot,
It is a major PITA
@4000 miles one way
it really makes you evaluate the worth of possessions....
we have decided this is the last long distance move

Mike,
Thanks man.
I do like the cold, but I love the summers up there. It is the greatest place on earth!!
The fishing and hunting are great up there, I can't wait for that also. I can almost taste the smoked salmon.
I will take pics and post them as I'm able

Thanks for the pics Joe. So I guess you put wifes truck back together back together enough to pull it? For some reason I figured you would have big trailer. Looks like some fun!

You found a camper shell! Now it will grow on you, and you'll think "this will be great in the winter to keep the stuff in my bed dry".

Good luck on the trip, my the wind stay at your back and it be all down hill.

Thanks guys!!

Mike, the '66 is together and drivable, just in case we have any issues.

Randy,
I do like the topper, I drove to Chelsea to get it. I guess the used ones for these trucks are getting "rare"
It will be staying on until I have a place to store it.
