Re: A '54 named Busty

I owned a second gen Camaro before and remember having that same problem. I had mine sand blasted and powder coated.

Throw the square body ones on there. I’m sure they’re interchangeable both being Chevy’s and all.

that dust plate being bent like that still bothers me not sure if that's how they are supposed to be or if the PO mangled them like that on purpose

I did that one rotating tires on one side front to rear and vice versa. Had the front on a jack stand and was using a floor jack on the rear. While jacking up the rear - you guessed it. Over she went. Fortunately I was on a dirt/gravel driveway and nothing was bruised except my ego and that dust shield.

Re: A '54 named Busty

gonna paint these silver since it's cast iron not steel, the steel bits will git blackened

Re: A '54 named Busty

I think they cleaned up pretty good considering their age. Nice work.

Re: A '54 named Busty

Dang that sucks. We’re you able to get a jack under it to get it lifted back up or did you have to do something creative?

I jacked up on the frame from the side behind the front tire - similar to where most modern cars get jacked up. Fortunately it was a small pickup, not a car.

Re: A '54 named Busty

The spindle looks great. What paint did you use?

I'm going to get some Eastwood Brake Gray as it is supposed to be the best anit rust when applying near brake fluid.

I've given up chasing expensive paint unicorns! I get the same results with dime a dozen formulas and I've already proven manufacturers put the same formula in two or three different packages aka cans and sell it at three different price points, shame on them!

so I used the can I bought for the inside of the cab that didn't make the cut, I figure under the truck nobody will be the wiser, and yet it turned out great

They look great! This is what separates the men from the boys. Awesome work and well worth the effort.

just some interesting pricing for some of the suspension parts, makes you wonder is AMAZON Prime shipping really free?

Re: A '54 named Busty

so it's Pay Day and I just ordered most of my suspension parts off of Rock Auto, and I was literally just about to save a $100 bucks (by going with them instead of Amazon) when this happened

yup they won't ship these silly Goodmark $7 dollar rubber upper control arm bumpers to California and Amazon wants $24 bucks each for the same ones

Welcome to my World! I can't wait to retire and move out of this once Golden State.
