Re: My Crew Cab Short Bed Project, AKA "Project Destiny"
Sunset by Denver, Co I forgot to mention, I got the crew loaded down so much that I had to pull my 1" spacers off of the back to keep from rubbing the rear tires

Re: My Crew Cab Short Bed Project, AKA "Project Destiny"
I quess he is somewhere around Calgary. Last message was at around 7 and he was about 90 miles north of the border. Thats a ton of driving, I wonder how many times he had to stop for gas.
I will have to remember to take my Camera to get a couple pics. Too bad the roads up here are crappy, or I would pull out the orange beast to our meeting. Again safe driving, must be about 1/2 way there. Darren

Re: My Crew Cab Short Bed Project, AKA "Project Destiny"
Had a good chat with Joe yesterday, what a load on the way north. Im glad the weather cleared up for him, Saturday we had 10 inches of wet snow, good thing it warmed up for Sunday and melted most of it.
Great to hear he is having a good trip , and hope it continues for the rest. Thanks again for the parts. Darren

Re: My Crew Cab Short Bed Project, AKA "Project Destiny"
Thanks for keeping an eye on our progress!!
It was cool to meet you Darren! I forgot about the Burb overhead console that I was going to give you along with the other stuff.... Kevin is right, we are in B.C. Fort St. John to be precise. I'll have tons of pics when the trip is done. It is kinda a pain to post multiple pics from photobucket mobile. We had 2 flats at the same time on the wife's Element. I had to pull the tires off and haul them 20 minutes back to grand prairie AB. I got them repaired at walmart for $22.50 each and to think I thought a $12 flat repair was steep That killed part of the day... Oh well it's all an adventure I was super stoked to finally be on the Alaska Highway Check out this super clean crew cab dually I saw in Red Deer AB The wife is following me and said throughout the entire trip people are breaking their necks trying to get a second look at my truck. We parked here in Fort St. John and 2 guys in a Dakota pulled up beside me to take pics of my truck, I rolled down the window as he was driving off and the guy yelled "cool truck man" Posted via Mobile Device

Re: My Crew Cab Short Bed Project, AKA "Project Destiny"
No problem on the console, I already have one..
One good thing, probably the only good thing, about the flat, is it was not on anything old!!! See, we do have some cool vehicles up here.. Darren

Re: My Crew Cab Short Bed Project, AKA "Project Destiny"
Ouch on the flats, but at least you didn't have to buy tires! There is always a bright side.
I guess I need to get me one of those facebook things. If Joe can do it I know I can! You're getting closer and closer, should be on the home stretch now I would think.

Re: My Crew Cab Short Bed Project, AKA "Project Destiny"
Thanks guys!
Darren, I've seen one cool vehicle so far, wish I could have seen yours. You need to post tons of pics of your rides when winter is over. Randy, We have right at 1500 miles left. Definitely on the down hill side, but with lots of uphill to go John, I'm kicking myself for not getting that GPS from you, doh! Posted via Mobile Device

Re: My Crew Cab Short Bed Project, AKA "Project Destiny"
Sorry I jinxed you on the flats. At least you weren't in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night and they were fixable.

We are now in Ak with about 300 miles to go! The wife has built in GPS in her car, but apparently Crutchfield screwed me, it didn't work in Canada Quote:
I totally agree, it happened in a good spot Quote:
I know the way, the GPS comes in handy finding food and beds Somebody must have cleaned them up, our trail was gone thanks for the support John We had a little bit of fun yesterday, I topped a hill and started down the other side. Pushed on my brakes and the truck jumped to the left like the right brake wasn't working. Made it down the mountain and crossing the bridge at the bottom I noticed smoke behind me. I just knew I had brake problems and I smoked the brakes. Luckily there was a lodge/restaurant/gas station right there. Pulled in there and saw there was a trail and puddle of trans fluid under the truck. Turns out I got a pin hole in a rubber hose on my trans lines. It was spraying all over the passenger inner fender and brake/wheel. I was able to bend the hard lines and shorten the rubber hose to reuse it. Got it fixed, bought a couple cans of brake clean for $6 each and a couple liters if trans fluid for $8 each and we were back on the road. My brakes still pull the the left so I'll throw some new pads on after we get home. Posted via Mobile Device
