Does anyone have a link or pictures of the gas tank where the filler hole was in the stake holes in the bed?

My filler is not run down through the post but I thought I'd show what I'm doing with mine. There's alot of fabrication involved. If you plan to do any heavy hauling in the bed I would not suggest going this route since I had to cut most of the support out of the corner of the bed.

yank have you tried to mount the rear bumper with that set up? You may find you won't be able to get the tail light open enough to get a gas pump nozzle to the filler tube. Thats why most set ups like you've got use a rear roll pan instead of a bumper. Your thoughts???.........

ebfabman, I had thought about that. AS you can see in this pic I will have no problem clearing the bumper. My tail light pivots in at the bottom so there is interferance with the bumper.

Does $75 for just a blazer tank seem high. Thats not with strapes or anything.

This is cool. This is actually what I have been planning to try but I hadn't seen it done until now. Do you have any more pics? Even larger versions of the first two would be useful. How much room do you have for getting to the cap and getting the fuel nozzle in there? How are you latching the lens up into place?

i used 1 from a chevy van. dont know the year. just went to pick a part and measured until i found 1 that would fit. cost $25.

Im a little confused. If I use one off a newer blazer thats fuel injected what to do I do about them pump since I have a carb? I know I use the mechanical but I mean what do I do about the one allready in the tank.

I am glad someone got the flip down taillight to work. I spent at least a week trying ot get mine to clear as it returns into the light opening. What are you going to do with the wiring ?

I just decided to fill it thru the bed floor.

Bowtieman. I am running a carb and I used a tank off of a 85 Blazer. It is made for a regular sender. A regular sender will not work in a FI tank. You can buy new tanks for around a hundered buck from Raybucks. They also have all the hardware like straps and senders.

I have pored through every thread I can find on this subject and have not been able to answer this:

Are there existing holes in the frame that can be used for the hanger bolts when using the Blazer/Suburban tank, or will they have to be drilled?

FYI- Classic Performance has a "Conversion Kit" for $169. Cheapest I've found.

There are no existing holes they need to drilled. Not a very difficult job. Hacking the bed cross sill to clear the top of the blazer tank is the hard part.

My 70 swb had holes in the frame that lined right up with the blazer tank kit.

Ok I am going to put some sort of a fuel tank in the back of my 70 longbed but still am unsure of a few things. So any 73-87 blazer tank will work with my mechanical fuel pump and all that? And about how low will one hang?
