Re: Snip snip
Some marginally better shots of the front shock mounts. Shock no longer limits up or down.

Re: Snip snip
I did something like that with my upper shock mount. I was thinking you might want to put a gusset on that?? Maybe not....
Do you have any bolts going through the crossmember into the side rail? I've been thinking (I'll have to wait until I get my frame back) that maybe I can make a bracket for those holes that stick up past the top of the frame to connect that part of the crossmember to the top of the frame. |

Re: Snip snip
Just below where the cross shafts mount, there are 2 holes in that bracket, with bolts going through and getting nutted from the inside of the frame channel. It's pretty much impossible to get a pic of them without pulling off the wheel .

Re: Snip snip
Hmm, I'll have to check that area again when I get my frame back. I thought there wasn't any flat areas there to put bolts.

Re: Snip snip
I don't have any front sheet metal on mine (or wheels for that matter). I'll try & get a couple of pics before I remove my notched crossmember for something else .

Re: Snip snip
Some gratuitous pics that really don't have much to do with anything... but you can see the front shock mounts in some of them

Re: Snip snip
It's ironic that you post those pics today. Yours is a 250ci, right? I have access to 2 separate 250's to build one good one out of, and I've been pondering replacing the 350 in my truck with one of these. Is yours stock internally? What transmission are you running? And finally what kind of gas mileage do you get with it?
Thanks,

I started with lots of mockups, fabbing, Heim joints, and other tricks. After talking to Kugel, I went with his setup and it was a "drop in" deal. Note: I went with a remote reservoir because I didn't have room under the dash for it. I put the reservoir under the cowl, but after having to remove the cowl a couple of times, I ended up cutting an access panel into the cowl. Now I just drop down the reservoir in the cab on the passenger side to service.

How do you like the under dash set-up now that you've gotten a little seat time?

Re: Snip snip
did you go with the manual or power brake version?
Have any pics of the install? Why couldn't you fit the resevoir? A fitment issue particular to your truck or all 67-72's? |

Rats! Foiled again!

I just bought the bracket. I already had a new MC and booster. Of course... I had to bail on the MC and go with a remote reservoir unit. There was just no room to get to the reservoir. The only way I could see it working is if you made a removable speaker grille for the center of the dash so you could get to the reservoir. I wasn't willing to do that... especially since I had already shaved the grille. I did leave the 2 air vents... 'cuz I was going to use them, but now that I've gone heaterless, I suppose I could have lined up the reservoir with one of them and come in through the top. Nah... easier to go with remote reservoir.

clutch cylinder. Mine's an auto, so I don't have that section.

Re: Snip snip
Stumbled across these today. Dash is completely shaved-- no heat/air, ducting, radio, etc., so keep in mind for clearance.

Re: Snip snip
thanks for the pics. I think i'm gonna go this route with the brake setup. So much cleaner looking in the engine bay. You mentioned you already had the booster/mc. So any booster/mc will mount to this bracket from kugel?
