Re: PROJECT "Father/Son" C-20 Rolling Chassis Build

Hey John,
I have a day off on Friday so give me a call to coordinate. Maybe we can get it torn down and transported there on Friday but I'll need to call the powdercoater to give him a heads up.

Pardon me for the interuption, but I'm going to backtrack a bit. For your awesome valve mounting, what type of T are you using? Stainless steel, carbon steel, platinum? And also where did you pick those up? I like the idea of welding tabs on and don't feel like brazing brass fittings.

Progress looks great and sweet watts link.

Steel Parker Ts are used, probably carbon steel. I assume John picked them up at Royal Brass in San Jose.

You can see, everything was a perfect (and close) fit.....

The lower mount came out good too....the tank hangs lower than my mount.

All those washers will be replaced with some spacers upon reassembly, as well as the P/S bolt will be reversed....

Hey John,
That looks great!
You know I told you that I ordered the weld on brackets (from ballistic fabrication) for converting the 14 bolt over to disc brakes. Well yesterday I picked up the rotors and calipers from Power Brake Exchange.

RIght on Pat, thanks....I like to add as much info/pics as possible.

Next up will be converting that rear axle to DISC BRAKES.

This is a pretty straight forward process.

Stay tuned !!

Back with a few more shots of the Disc Brake Conversion on Rich's 14Bolt...

The first thing was to remove those large heavy drum/hub assemblys, then the backing plates:

53lbs of unsprung weight is a LOT. That's a great upgrade for that truck. The brackets look well made too.

Hey John,
David will do the black pieces 1st starting on Monday. Followed by the rest. So the rearend should be ready for pick-up later in the week. I'm jazzed about the color scheme we finally settled on.

Hope your work now on the father-in-laws vette is coming along and he is happy.
